Working Man's Friend Reviews
BEST burgers in Indy, even better people working there! I’ve never had a bad experience or bad food. Always consistent. Always welcoming. Always delicious. 100 plus years making the best smash burgers!
Absolutely awesome burger. Tenderloin was excellent too. Oh yeah, fries and beer battered onion rings were a hit too. We drove over an hour and it did not disappoint!
OLD school establishment that's been a South West Indy treasure for over 100 years! KILLER Burgers and friendly staff. Hands down the best burgers in Indy!

Working Man's Friend is a down-home, old-fashioned bar serving awesome food, including killer burgers and tenderloin. The atmosphere is lively and can get quite loud, making it a fun spot for those seeking a casual and energetic environment. Customers often enjoy the large, moist, and delicious cheeseburgers, with the Giant Double being particularly praised for its perfect patties and crispy edges. The golden, crispy beer-battered onion rings are also a favorite, fried just right so that the whole onion does not come out in the first bite. The staff, including a friendly manager, is known for being welcoming, creating good vibes for everyone.
It is important to note that Working Man's Friend is a 21+ establishment with no kid-friendly environment, meaning no one under 21 is allowed inside, even on a Saturday lunch or while waiting for takeout. Payment is cash only, so visitors should come prepared. Parking is available on the street, curb, or empty grass area nearby. The place may be a little rough around the edges, but it is clean, and the food is consistently praised as delicious and satisfying. While they aren't open late, with last orders taken at 3:15 pm, the nostalgic local diner/bar experience is worth a visit.
