Beware eating at El Rancho Viejo on Grape rd. In mishawaka. Paid with a credit card and left a cash tip and they changed the amount written on the receipt i signed to get an extra $5. It's not alot but its the point that they changed what was written on the receipt i signed to get more. If they do it for every transaction that will add up quick. Probable figured it is such a small amount most people won't notice or call them out for it.

Ordered a door dash from here earlier today, a steak poblano. The food came in a timely manner, but the steak was rancid. The fact that they have food in their kitchen that is like this is scary.

This place has great food, the server was wonderful and attentive. I left my card there on accident and when I called it was there safe. For the money this is the best Mexican food in the area, I would definitely recommend coming here to eat.

Service was great however, the chips were really nasty and my daughter quesadilla had a tomato in it, and it was only supposed to be only cheese I ordered the Beria tacos The consommé tasted like water I needed more flavor and my tacos were really burnt

Update: They have suddenly added an 18% "service charge." This is a horrible practice! There was nothing posted anywhere, it was snuck onto the bill. Can you imagine how many people don't catch this and tip on top of the 18%?! We were only 3 people. I've only ever seen this practice in large cities, in fancy restaurants, or with parties of 10 or more. None of those applied in this situation and this is actually outrageous! We will not be returning.

CAUTION!! if you go take a good look at your receipt. When you see "Service Charge 18%" and then an amount. Know that they are already charging you a tip on your bill. When u go to pay and your going to sign your receipt there is STILL the option to write down an additional tip and hopefully you haven't left cash on the table as a tip. It's bad enough we are paying for the 2.5% the credit card company charges the restaurant for us paying with a card. The waitress was great and we would have left more then the 18% they charged us but I didnt want to pay a penny more when i was told that charge is on there to help pay the people that buss the tables and my husband was (by the same person) told it's there to make it easier for the customers not to have to worry about figuring out what to tip. I feel the owner is trying to be sneaky/deceitful. Makes me worry who is really getting the money from the tips. Just like the signs they have hanging on there door and at the register explaining the 2.5% cc fee they should give us a heads up about the 18% that will show on your receipt. Our waitress was being sympathetic but one of the guys was very annoyed that we were questioning the charges.

1st thing the food flavor is good but when the rice and beans are cold doesnt matter how flavorful it is. Waitress was good until we asked what was a 18% service charge and i caught her in a lie. Apparently its a tip. 6 or more i understand but it was me my wife and 8 year old daughter. No biggie we normally do tip 18% or more but then after they run your card and that 18% is already added you have the option to get this TIP 15 18 20% on top of the the tip/ service charge. So if you dont catch it and add say 15% your actually tipping 33% on top of the 2.5% for using a credit card. So BEWARE my fellow foodies/ resteraunt goers This 1 is truly a RIP OFF!!! Sucks i cant give 0 stars

Both times we’ve eaten here this year the food was delicious and we love the atmosphere. However, both times the service was really slow. Both times were Sunday afternoon, not sure if that plays a role, but there were few servers working. We returned a second time to give it another try and had the same experience. Our tip was marked up slightly as well which led me to write this review this time. Not overly concerned about it but I hope the workers are getting paid properly.
