“Absolutely a hidden gem of a place. I stumbled across this place on accident but it's completely amazing, the staff was very professional and courteous towards everyone that walked thru the door. The food was amazing, super fast for a sit down place. They even included the kids in conversation and that's huge completely made us feel welcome. Definitely will be back. Quickly became my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area.”

“A nice mom and pop diner in the area. The service was nice and fast. The portions were reasonable for dinner and was very tasty and reasonably priced as well. The staff was nice and kind. We had a great time there.Vegetarian options: Like any Mexican restaurant it has some reasonable vegetarian options or they can make most dishes without meat, though they don’t use any meat alternatives like tofu other than beans.”

“Have had lunch here multiple times. The food is always delicious. The staff are always friendly and provide good service. I had their catfish for the first time today. It was some of the best I’ve had. It wasn’t overly breaded like other restaurants I’ve been to so I actually got to enjoy the fish. Their onion rings and fried okra are really good too.”

“I have been getting coffee nearly every week since they first opened and this place gets better almost everytime. Abby and John (the owners) are the friendliest people I've met. Coffee has been consistent every time which is very uncommon for lots of coffee shops around. The bagels are probably the best thing on the menu. I usually order a large milky way mocha and an everything bagel and hardly spend $10. Would highly recommend if in the area.”

“It was good. The place is a dump. I mean talk about a dive bar. I think they have stock in canned spray foam. It’s everywhere. The food is typically deep fried bar food. The tenderloin really is huge, which is why we went. It was good too. It’s worth a stop and see! The service was great! One woman working in there did not stop running - the place as super crowded and she was very pleasant.”

“We and another couple took a short “road trip” to Newport Indiana. Newport is home to the annual Newport Antique Auto Hill Climb held each fall. It is always crowded for the weekend events. We drove over on a recent Saturday afternoon. The town was almost deserted, but the Newport Tavern was open for lunch. It is housed in an old building, but once inside we were surprised at how bright and modern it is. We were the only ones there. The young woman behind the bar was very friendly. She shared a bit of history about the town and the building. We saw a small sign with an arrow saying Beer Garden. We were not expecting to see such a large area under cover, complete with an outside bar, lots of seating, big ceiling fans, and stage for bands. We were told they serve food as well as beverages in the Beer Garden. I had a tenderloin sandwich that was huge. It was very tasty. My husband had a cheeseburger that he declared was “ really good!” The other couple shared a pizza. The restaurant itself is very clean. We will be back to listen to some of the different bands that are booked. If you enjoy flea markets, antique cars, and some really good bar food, come to the Newport Tavern during the Hill Climb.”

“This place is the most "Indiana" restaurant I have ever seen. So much so that I have never seen another restaurant like this in Indiana. The food is good - I like the steak burger with a side of onion straws. Cholesterol medicine urgently followed, but if you are willing to take the chance, you'll be rewarded.”

“We placed our first ever order on Monday January 8th. I called in a carry out order for 2 large thin crust pizzas, one was cheese and sausage and the other was a Deluxe without pepperoni. We took advantage of their ‘$5 off one large carry out pizza Monday’ deal. The pizzas were ready when we pulled up to the pickup window. We paid $41 cash as there is a 4% service charge for credit cards. I was kinda worried when the nice, elderly cashier tilted the pizza boxes to get them through the pickup window.At home, we found the pizzas intact. The deluxe pizza had the sausage, mushrooms, green peppers and onions all chopped up and evenly spread over the entire pizza. I’ve never had toppings this way but it was very good! The crust was thin and had cornmeal on the bottom. Both pizzas were cooked thoroughly and neither were greasy.I’m from Chicago and am a deep dish pizza guy but this pizza was good.Good job!Ken KorenRockville, IN”

“We know that dates us. As youngsters we enjoyed the Noble Romans that was a stand alone restaurant in the Mall parking lot. As kids you could go up to the window and watch them throw pizzas. You had the full view of the kitchen and the goings on there. It is a similar set up with the kitchen being wide open to observe the action. We thought the atmosphere was decent. It was clean and quiet. We would give it four stars, not as we remembered exactly but had that modern flair. Not better but similar. 4 stars for atmosphere. The service was not great. Very slow to respond. Not sure why because it was well staffed. Seemed there was at least one staff member per customer while we were there. Still they were not attentive. Would rate the service on our trip 3 stars. The food was as remembered. We loved the breadsticks and nacho cheese sauce. We also enjoyed having a deep dish Sicilian Works pizza. It was like visiting a long lost friend. 4 stars for our food vote. It was a great value. We had an order of breadsticks and a medium deep dish Sicilian for $20 and change. 5 stars for this cheap eats place. Romantic Appeal was lacking for us. When we were younger this was a date place. Maybe we have aged but for us it was not appealing for a date place. More like a fast food enviornment. 3 stars for RA. The renown has seemed to waiver throughout the years. It seems to have slipped into midranged knowledge of this place. Just another pizza option here. For us it was always Arni's or Noble Romans. Maybe a trip over to Brunos if we wanted to go to campus. We give this place a 3.5 star renown. Overall we would give this place a solid 4 star rating. We still enjoyed us and we still enjoy the deep dish Sicilian pizza.”
