Restaurantji's guide to Rensselaer's top Mexican dining experiences.
“Hole in the wall with very good authentic food but the service lacks a lot!!!! The server was nice enough but clearly didn’t understand the service part of the job, not being able to answer simple questions about menu items to not providing items we asked for until well into the meal… but not the end of the world, still worth the visit.“
“3/9/24- We came here to eat on a recommendation from a friend. I was happy we stopped by because the food is delicious ?The place was busy but there were a lot of tables available. The place is big and it has a hall. No matter when you go you'll find a seat.We had Horchata and Cherry Pepsi which they make with grenadine. I am sure any of the other drinks are just as good. The Horchata is homemade so you're not cheated on taste. They bring you chips and salsa and they are not stingy. We had five kids and two adults and plenty of chips to hold us over. The food is made while you wait. The combo choices are big and filling. I had the beans, rice, carnitas taco, green tamale, chicken enchilada and they all had meat. We ordered an Albondiga soup and it was home made with tortillas. My wife ordered the Chimichanga and it came with beans and rice. The kids had quesadillas, chicken tacos, chicken enchiladas, and fries or choice of beans and rice. So kids don't get cheated. It's in a small town with great history. We found out it has been there for 20 years. The parent's owned it and it has a family atmosphere. We will return and enjoy our new favorite Mexican restaurant, Ayda's!Kid-friendliness: There's a good kid menu and it had a few choices. We took our kids and all five ordered something different.“
“Stopped for a quick lunch. Inside was very clean and service was quick. I did like ordering from the kiosk because there are more options than the menu board and less pressure to make a fast decision. I got the chicken power bowl and it was surprisingly how good it was. Located right off the expressway.“
“The food was very good and plenty of it. The service was good the wait time was not that long for the food to be ordered and then brought to the table. About the same as most site down and order fresh food restaurants. The restaurant side was set up with colorful pictures of Mexican street scenes. Booths and tables and chairs. Nice grocery's of Mexican foods offered.“
