Today's special: Chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, choice of vegetable $7.95 - good home-cookin' at a price that can't be beat! Plus warm sugar cream pie for dessert! Also on the menu, wide variety of sandwiches, ribs, steak and shrimp, soup of the day, salads and sides. Friendly service, fair prices (how do they do it?), good food, and parking across the street.“

“First visit to The Lucky 7 Café. I was so pleased with the owner's generosity in donating warm meals to our city's homeless population that I wanted to come support this local restaurant. Food was delicious. Tater tots were surprisingly amazing! Perfect small town spot to get a home cooked meal without breaking the bank. I can't wait to come back!“

“Delightful venue and truly professional servers! Nice drink menu and the food menu is very creative. The cashew/honey baked Brie appetizer is super. Our whole experience was wonderful, except for one little thing...no, I take that back - overcooking a nice piece of fish is a big thing. Maybe just don't order the fish if that is their standard. Overall, recommended.“

“Country Diner is a real gem. Great home cooked food from 6am to 1:30pm. The hand breaded tenderloin sandwich was large and meaty. Daily specials like beef manhattan, beans ham cornbread with fried potatoes, chicken and noodles, and great breakfast choices. Plenty of parking with room for semi's and right off the highway. Typically very busy, we arrived at 12:45 and had excellent service.“

“A couple of years ago some coworkers told me that if I was ever in shelbyville to go to Westside Pub. Fast forward to today, finally made my way to the location and it's now Whiskey Johns -- a smoke free and recently updated dive bar with still exceptional bar food and a really awesome bartender. We bellied up to the bar for food and drinks but ended up sitting and talking to locals and the bartender for over an hour. We came midafternoon and beat the rush. All of the tables were reserved tonight (!). The Cadillac wings, fish and spicy cheese cubes all were very good and we look forward to coming back again!“

“Saw that this place was on the list as one of the ten best chicken places in Indiana. We decided to road trip here just to find out. It did not disappoint. The chicken is cooked fresh after you order so dont be in a big hurry. Everything came out piping hot and was delicious. The service here was outstanding. This restaurant is very clean and well kept. It is very easy to find using Google Maps. There is plenty of free parking around the building.“

“I am frequently at this cafe especially on Sundays. They have a buffet that well small offers plenty of choices to have a delicious meal. Excellent fried chicken! The atmosphere is very friendly and accommodating. The place is clean. It is small so if it is crowded it's sometimes difficult to get a seat but if you're there on a non-rush time it is not a problem at all.“

“Awesome food and the soup is delicious. Anything I have ordered has always been great. The servers are so cheerful and helpful. And that makes you want to come back and try something else. “3 of us arrived at 6 a.m. 12/24/23. One table left , "Ski" as they called him, greeted us at the table and turned us over to the best possible waitress anyone could have! Susan had been with the company 39 years and just lost a husband with similar time at this location. What a genuinely nice lady who was responsive to our needs, far exceeding our expectations. The entire staff stayed busy and the place operated like a well oiled machine, no pun intended. Everything was on point and exactly how it should be. When we walked out the door to leave , yet another employee giving us fare wells and cleaning the lot at the same time. Thank you Ski, Susan and the others , corporate should use you guys as an example of how things should be done. Our society needs this level of customer service everywhere. Thanks again.“

“Server Chris E. working on the evening of 4/4/24 deserves a promotion. This gentleman fully embodies what companies like Cracker Barrel can only hope their servers are presenting nationwide, but usually aren’t. He was kind, attentive, had a positive attitude, and very knowledgeable. You could tell he truly took pride in his work. Workers like this unfortunately often go unnoticed. I hope management sees this and acts accordingly.“

“I was in Shelbyville and yelped breweries near me. I got a hit for Twisted Spoke Brewery. The info said it was in the CrossTown Bar and Grill. I showed up and there's no brewery! However, it's a great local dive bar! I love a good local bar with great food. I had a bowl of their chili, with cheese, onion and jalapeños- awesome! I had fried pickles - Pretty good. But great ambiance and vibe. They allow smoking, which I don't love, but can tolerate.“

“We visited Applebee's a couple nights ago for a late night dessert. Judy got the Triple chocolate meltdown. I got the sizzlin butter pecan brownie. This was good except that they put the butter pecan brownie on a HOT metal skillet. I get the idea but it burnt the bottom of the brownie and the butter pecan sauce they pour over the dish, it sizzled and stuck to the skillet. U cudnt scrape the sauce so it wud be on top of the brownie because it suddenly fried to the skillet. When I mentioned this to the server, her answer was "yea,those always co.e out like that". Guess who Won't be ordering that again!!“

“We both always look forward to going to breakfast almost every Sunday morning before church. Kim is usually our server since we are there early. Food is always hot & good! Kim is the best! Great service and enjoy seeing her. Morning staff is exceptional! Includes Crystal, Angie, Ollie and Maria. I’m sure there are others behind the scenes that we don’t get to interact with. Thanks to them all for all they do.“

“We ended up at Pudder's for the eclipse. Good choice! Food was great - Bleu Burger and a Philly Wrap. And wonderful onion rings. No pix - cameras were busy elsewhere. Staff was very accommodating. Definitely stopping in again next time we're in Shelbyville.“

“We were visiting Shelbyville and needed some ice cream. Our only requests: It had to be a local joint, and it had to be open on Sunday. (Which is a surprisingly hard ask, because have you been to a small town in Indiana on a Sunday? Nothing is open.) But Cow Palace came through! Blessedly, it is open on Sunday. This place is half restaurant, half ice cream parlor. When you enter, you will immediately step into the ice cream parlor. So if you're just here for ice cream, like we were, you don't have to walk far. There are a few tables in the ice cream parlor area, but not much, and most people looked like they got their ice cream to go. We got our ice cream to go. Our order consisted of a turtle sundae, a scoop of Superfriends ice cream (Superman ice cream, but more inclusive, which I love), a cherry shake and a peanut butter shake. I'm the one who ordered the turtle sundae. I don't especially like ice cream, but I had to order it because I just love caramel sauce and pecans together. The pecans that they use on the turtle sundae are whole, which isn't my preference, because then you have a big bite of nut every so often, instead of a small sprinkling of nuts with each bite. The turtle sundae also comes with chocolate sauce, whipped cream and a maraschino cherry. The people behind the counter are super quick with the orders, which I appreciate. They were scooping and swirling toppings and blending shakes and malts like pros. If you walk past the ice cream parlor, you'll see a sit-down restaurant several steps ahead. We didn't visit the restaurant this time, but it's there.“
