I live on the south side of Indy, but found myself in Zionsville for a meeting—and I’m so glad I stumbled into Roasted in the Village. With so many coffee shop options nearby, this gem stood out in the best way.

From the moment I walked in, the energy was amazing. The staff was not only incredibly kind, but genuinely curious about what brought me in. The conversation felt natural and welcoming—not forced—which made the whole experience feel personal and sincere.

I set up shop for a few hours to get some work done, and the vibe was perfect: cozy, calm, and full of community. It was a joy watching the regulars filter in alongside first-timers, and the baristas treated everyone with the same friendly enthusiasm and big smiles.

I had a simple drip coffee, but their menu was packed with great options—including some really creative seasonal drinks. Whether you’re local or just passing through, this place is 100% worth the stop. I’ll absolutely be back—maybe even without a meeting to bring me to this side of town!“

This charming breakfast spot has such a cozy, welcoming vibe with its exposed brick walls, rustic farm-style decor, and black-and-white photos that really give it character. I will say though, the manager for this location was quite rude to my fiance and I when we came in to place our 200+ catering order. We ended up working very closely with one of the bakers - so incredible nice - she deserves a promotion in my opinion!“

“Looked online to find an authentic French baguette. Sent my husband on a 20 minute drive to buy a loaf. The lady on the phone said that their baker had learned to make the baguettes in France so they were indeed authentic. Husband returned with a $5.00 loaf and when I cut into the very small loaf, it looked like a whole grain piece of bread fom Kroger or Fresh Market. It did not taste like a French loaf nor did it have the texture of a French baguette. So disappointed in the whole experience and will definitely not return for bread!“

“I purchased cakes from classic cakes for many many many years when my children were smaller and then into adulthood for birthdays, graduations, and other events. The cakes were always delicious and beautiful however, there is one designer that does not listen to what you ask for. When you tell her, the team colors are red, she made the cake green. When I told her I needed a sculpture of a specific dog and even sent a picture she made it anything but that dog. I realize that a certain amount of artistic license goes into this, but there were at least 10 times when the cakes were not what was ordered, and I didn’t say anything because I needed to pick them up and take them to the event the day that I picked them up and what do you do when the cake is wrong and you need it that day? Everybody said the cakes tasted good so we were fine, but it is disappointing to not get what you ordered.“

“Im still feeling a bit emotional and greatful for this business. It is our third visit including the one we came when they're closed already. We came in this past Friday at 7:02pm to buy some cake. The store closed at 7pm, everything was put away. We were a bit disappointed because we were craving bundt cake so bad. The next morning we came back to get some ,and the gentleman ( maybe the owner/manager) didn't charge us for our order cuz he feels bad that we came when the store was already closed. “for those unfamiliar, it just may be time to familiarize yourself with Courses Restaurant & Bakery-Cafe at ivytech's downtown location. this is where culinary and hospitality students get to practice and hone their restaurant skills before they graduate. anyway - my son and i went last night and really enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to checking out the new menu next 8 weeks, but i'm getting ahead of myself, lol. it is located on the top floor in a beautiful space. we were lucky enough to be sat at a window and get to look over our city. i chose the banh mi appetizer and he the sweet potato salad. i would like to see that sammich on a menu somewhere - probably my favorite food from the evening. he loved the moroccan spiced sweet potatoes. i chose the churrasco beef which came with black beans and some charred veggies. while the components separately were good, what really made this dish was having a little bit of everything in each bite. the sauce seemed a bit overpowering on the steak until some veggies and/or beans were added to the bite. then it all harmonized well. he intended on ordering the chicken tagine, but decided on the paella that was added to the evening's menu. it was very rich and while he enjoyed it, he did express he wished he would have gotten the tagine. the opera torte was nice if you enjoy the taste of coffee. i do not, so he got to finish mine - which did not make him sad at all 😂 this is a difficult dessert to pull off and i thought they did a nice job as students. all in all, it was a great meal and experience! while most everything could use a bit more refinement and experience, we were very happy with the entire experience. as a former teacher it was great to see them practicing the skills they have learned in the classroom in a real life setting. all proceeds - meal price as well as tips - go towards keeping program costs down and scholarships. what an amazing opportunity for these students! can't wait for th“
