Tippin's Pies Bakery • $

“So many pies to choose from and so delicious. There was a Tippen's in Fort Worth, Texas for years and it was a favorite place of mine to dine. Great sandwiches and soups, plus the best egg custard pie I ever tasted. Another favorite pie was strawberry/rhubarb, it was awesome. Sadly it closed, sure do miss it.“

Avenues Classics Bakery • $$
3102 S 24th St, Kansas City

“Found Avenues through a Groupon. We bought the Shrimp Boil, Filet and Shrimp Scampi, Antipasto platter, and two cannolis. The meal portions were huge, our order could have easily fed 4 people. The shrimp boil was spicy, with a lot of shrimp, potatoes, sausage, and a whole ear of corn. The filet was flavorful, and the shrimp scampi was served similar to Alfredo, it tasted so good! The antipasto platter has lots of yummy bites, I really enjoyed the salami and artichoke hearts. The cannolis were great too! They also included a little bag of decorated mini cookies, with a ribbon and Go Royals! tag. I'm sure it was part of one of the entrees we ordered, but an unexpected but delightful little bread pudding was in our ca bag as well. Food was great, portions were large, and the staff at curbside was very nice. I do wish GPS hadn't left us about halfa block away though.“
