We have eaten here several times and have normally had good service and food. However recently I was sitting on hold for about 20 mins before I finally hung up and tried calling back. Which I could not as I'm guessing the phone was just sitting on the bar and all I got was the busy signal.
I still recommend The Hive for its good food and usually good service, but wanted to share my most recent experience.
Very disappointed with our first impression of this place. We were excited to try it out and support a local business. We came in on a Friday night, 2 adults 1 child, knowing they were going to be busy, no big deal! We didn't mind waiting a bit to get a spot. We walked in, scanned for an open table and didn't see any so we stood off to the side to wait. The Hive Bar Sports Bar & Grill is a great small town and sports bar with a fun, family friendly atmosphere full of pride for the local town. The food is especially good, with many noting the wings are the best in the Wichita area, described as excellent, crispy, and saucy with a lot of sauce variety. Other praised items include the chicken fry and the country fried steak dinner, with the beef and breading perfectly seasoned and crispy. The chips and queso with beef is also mentioned. The wait staff is friendly and the food is great, though service can be lacking a bit when busy and the phone can be difficult to reach. Some find it a tad over priced. It is a busy place, but a great place to stop for some food a little bit out of Wichita.
