“Food is always excellent…a little pricey but the quality & larger portions are well worth the $. They have a covered outdoor dining area as well as spacious indoor seating. They sometimes have live music from local performers which provides an exciting atmosphere. My favorite Cuban Bar & Grill perfect for a night out with dinner, drinks, & fun!”
“Wow, what a great place! My wife and I visited Louisville, and on the recommendation of a local, popped into Mayan Cafe and were completely impressed! The hostess and waitress were extremely nice and even though we came toward the end of the night were very welcoming and never hurried us along. The margarita with mezcal I ordered was perfect, and the dark, romantic room was fun and had a good, buzzy energy. We ordered the sikil pak and both agreed it was the best we've had - great depth of flavor and silky texture, it is a must-try! The scallop ceviche was also great - the scallops were marinated to the perfect texture, the flavors were fresh and bright, and the serving size was generous. My wife ordered the tuna tacos and loved them, raved about them. I ordered the duck with black mole and it was really great - succulent dark duck, confited and served shredded, tasted almost like deeply roasted, juicy pot roast - awesome flavor, but the mole was the star - great compliment to the duck. We split the cochinita pibil and both loved it - the achiote sauce was beautiful to look at and tasted earthy and complex, and the fried plaintains it was served with were nicely tourneed - a cool little touch that added to the fancy vibes of the meal. Even though it is certainly gourmet-level and very interesting food and a great way to experience a different kind of "Mexican" cuisine, and the dishes are crafted with love and look great on the plate, the prices were very fair and not too expensive. We loved Louisville, plan to visit more often, and will definitely be back to Mayan Cafe (to hopefully try the rabbit next time!). Highly recommended.”
“YaimaSo I entertain clients for a living, which has brought me to some if the highest rated restaurants in the country. So when I say that this experience was par none the greatest I have ever had, it puts me in shock that this hidden oasis is nestled in Louisville. If I had stumbled upon this restaurant in a little haven of Cuba that would make more sense. The love was experienced in every bite but the passion of our waitress brought it all to a climax that will live with us forever. Yaima was one of lights in the industry that reminds you that people make the difference. She was the star that brings this wonderful experience to the mountain top of a five star experience. Recommend you sit outside where you can experience authentic cuban music as the food whisks you away to time that food speaks all language and units cultures. Bravo.”
“Michael was a wonderful sever and his assistants were amazing also. They were so nice and helpful our drinks never went dry. Overall a wonderful experience on our 29th anniversary celebration, thanks Jeff Ruby’s and staff. Mike and Amanda Sowards.”
“I had the eggs Benedict. It was delicious! The service was amazing and the restaurant was clean. Our server, Isora, was friendly and attentive! I recommend checking it out :)”
“Great service. Shoutout to our server Brittany (hope I’m spelling it right). Cannot recommend the chicken empanadas enough. They are AMAZING. The bacon wrapped chorizo skewers are out of this world too! Shoutout Noel the bartender!!!! Drinks were great! I got the Mezcal old fashion, highly recommend. Girlfriend got the raspberry mojito and it was really refreshing. For dinner, girlfriend got the chicken and queso, I got the Vaca Frita, shredded steak with veggies, black beans, and rice. I cannot say enough about how good the food, drinks, and atmosphere are here. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back!Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options.Parking: Hardly any parking, but this is not Havana Rumba’s fault. It’s a very busy area. You will have to find street parking around the local neighborhood which will likely require a small walk.”
“Cannot be beat! Food, service, atmosphere- no better spot in town, hands down.We hate leaving but always look forward to coming back. Jonathan Tarullo and team have set the bar for fine dining in Louisville!”
“Hands down, the best chicken shawarma in Louisville. Would recommend the shawarma fries or the shawarma plate if you're extra hungry. Don't forget to add some Zu sauce to your order. It's very mild on the spice level but adds a nice zing to your meal. The owner is one of the nicest in town as well. Glad to see family run businesses doing well in Louisville.”
“I was here this evening for dinner with friends. We had a great meal, great drinks, and our server was friendly and attentive. The only problem was the dessert which I ordered; sopapillas. These are traditional New Mexican soft, fried, puffed dough pockets, drizzled with honey or covered in cinnamon and sugar. Think small soft donuts. Well, what I got was a hard, flat, fried tortilla, cut into quarters, and covered in cinnamon and sugar. That is NOT any kind of a sopapilla I have ever had at any Mexican restaurant before. It was awful. When I told the server my thoughts on what was served, she argued with me that this was indeed sopapillas. Right. My advise; do not order this usually delightful dessert at Tres Amigos, because you'll get something other than true sopapillas!”
“The burgers were quite tasty and the homemade sauces were outstanding (try the Texas burger) but I was very disappointed by the absence of pork bacon and cheddar cheese from the menu.”
“Shalimar is my very favorite restaurant in Louisville! They offer both vegetarian and non vegetarian dinners....I love the spinach & I love the chicken Marsala... the rice is so good!”
“Great French toast, biscuits and gravy! Where else can you have a Belgian Quad from the tap while you wait also? This was the part of the restaurant that is open 9am till 2pm. There is always a wait on the weekends but worth it.”
“Three of us had dinner on Tuesday night. The restaurant had a very nice atmosphere. Our server was Yasmine. She was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. She was attentive but not obtrusive. Everyone enjoyed the food very much. We had a lovely leisurely dinner. I would definitely return.”
“North of Bourbon is remarkable. A unique hidden gem of a restaurant with excellent service, food and drinks. Brad, Eric, and team were friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend!”
“We just got back from eating their mussels. They were absolutely amazing. We are from VA and they are the best I have ever had. Great atmosphere and super service.”
“As far as I am concerned Anoosh is the best restaurant in Louisville. Everything is perfection. The food , the staff . There is so much pride put in to the dining experience. Can't wait to go back!!!!”
“We stopped here as part of an awesome food tour and had the gravy train with biscuit bites. It was divine! The biscuit bites are impossible to put down…so, so good!”
“Very friendly people. The restaurant setting is really nice and clean. I didn't feel rushed when I was ordering. All the food looks and smells amazing. Definitely recommend to anyone.”
“A great addition to NULU!I went to Cherry Pickin’ for the first time today and am already looking forward to going back. Sydney the owner was great- as was the staff! They gave me some samples of juices to try and I ultimately decided on the Cherry Picker (it was delicious). As someone who works in NULU and often looks for healthy lunch options, I was excited to learn that they also offer a variety of toasts along with their juices, smoothies and bowls. I’m happy to have their business in the neighborhood and can’t wait to try more of their menu!”
“Vegan Empanadas!! My husband and I were in Louisville overnight, and finding good vegan breakfast options can be tricky. We've been vegan for 10 years and this was the best breakfast dish we've had. Truly delicious. And the service was fantastic! Thanks for having a killer plant-based offering!!”
“We loved this bar! We were traveling from MN and wanted to watch the Vikings game. We found the Parlay and loved hanging there long after the game was over. Excellent drinks! And the 3 owners working there were so awesome!”
“Literally the best Bob place I’ve ever been to. The prices and portion sizes have stayed consistent! I can’t afford boba often if I go other places but here I can justify going once a week or so. The owners are so kind and helpful, as is their staff. Every single tea or dessert item I’ve had has been perfect. The shop is cute and they’re service dog friendly! I’ve had access issues with other boba places but never here.”
“It was a good steakhouse but very expensive. It was priced similar to Marcel here in ATL and Bavette’s in Chicago but the experience wasn’t in line with those types of places”
“The restaurant from the outside is simple, but when you enter and order fish, it is really wonderful. I am from the Arabian Gulf. My country is Bahrain in the middle of the sea. We have a lot of fish. I know good fish and a good cook and taste. But here the restaurant is really wonderful. I have not tried any fish restaurant in Louisville because the fish that is not good makes me Sick and this is my second visit in a week. I will be a customer and it is close to our home. I liked this restaurant and all the staff are friendly”
“We arrived very early for our reservation and had a seat at the bar. Cocktails were great a d we were seated early. Wait staff were knowledgeable and helpful. The food was amazing.”
“I had a great dining experience here recently and I can honestly say this food satiated my soul. The baba ganoush was very well balanced and the tabbouleh was so bright and tasty. These were the highlights for me but everything else was also delicious.”
“What a delight!! Cake batter and vanilla yogurt flavors for the win. A great selection of toppings were offered (Buckeyes were my favorite)! Thanks for an enjoyable experience!”
“I've only patronize 4 times and not yet to be disappointed. I'm not common to doing reviews either. However, I get pleasant vibes in a comfortable environment while enjoying a Mango Berry bowl along with a 20oz. Ding repair. I couldn't resist sharing that with others ??”
“It has a nice vibe. You can go and have pizza and beer. The area is thriving. This is a place I will go back and enjoy again, when in the area of Louisville KY.Wheelchair accessibility: It is handicap accessible.”

“I have recently discovered the different lemonades that they make, and wow they are so good! They had a blueberry lemonade recently that was amazing! I just got the peach, and was not disappointed. I also ordered the 1/2 pound sandwich, and it was so much bigger than I thought. Certainly enough for two meals!”
