Zim's Cafe offers a delightful dining experience with a mix of delectable dishes and attentive service. The waitstaff is praised for their friendliness, efficiency, and genuine passion for their work, though some found them slow and lackadaisical. The restaurant provides a range of vegetarian options, including a seared tofu bowl. Food and service were great, with excellent food and drink selections. Some wait staff seemed overwhelmed on a Sunday evening. Artichoke fritters were great. The atmosphere was neat with custom art sculptures, and the food was mixed—some being unique and delicious, others pretty basic fare. Service was not great; one server was rude, but it was acceptable overall. The location inside the Old courthouse in the heart of downtown is a great spot, and visitors are encouraged to stop by the visitor center also inside the courthouse. The menu features good Southern style choices like catfish, shrimp and grits, and has a nice selection of desserts. The dipping sauce for the catfish and hush puppies was delicious. However, some may find the fries too thin and stringy, as they do not retain heat well. Overall, Zim's Cafe offers a pleasant place to dine, and the staff's thoughtful gestures, like comping a drink when food was delivered late, show their attentiveness.
