About Highland Coffees

Highland Coffees, located on LSU's campus, is a popular spot for students and visitors. The cafe is known for its relaxed and social vibes, with especially pleasant outdoor decor. The staff are friendly and helpful, creating a welcoming atmosphere. This coffeehouse offers a variety of drinks, including matcha lattes, granita, and both tea and coffee options. Their drip coffee is considered pretty great, with unmatched variety, and the espresso, especially the medium roast, is fragrant and balanced. The granita latte is very popular among students and tastes very good. Many customers appreciate the change of scenery from chain coffee houses, although some note that the coffee can be mediocre at times. Highland Coffees sources mid- to high-grade beans and prepares them with decent attention to detail, reflecting in the competitive prices. Visitors can enjoy a nice courtyard while sipping their drinks, making it a great place to relax. The cafe opens early at 6 am, perfect for grabbing a cup before starting the day. While the food offerings are limited, the staff’s effort to make things right adds to the friendly vibe. Parking is available nearby, making visits convenient. Visitors are advised to bring a water bottle, as they do charge for a cup of water, and should definitely try the black coffee if they love it. The outdoor decor and relaxed atmosphere make Highland Coffees a distinctive and inviting place to enjoy quality drinks and a good environment.

We visited this coffee shop around 9:30 am and they weren’t very busy. They were out of all croissants and only had two bagel flavors. We have two different iced coffees. Both were not tasty at all. We ended up growing them out. I’m fairly certain one of the had soured milk in it. The banana nut bread was old tasting and I didn’t eat it either. Basically $16 thrown away. Atmosphere was very nice but what we ordered was not good.

Clark has always managed a constant quality of coffees and teas and it shows through his many dedicated employees. Baton Rouge’s best and hippest cafe (hands down).

We have stopped there a few times to break up trip back to Metairie. Excellent coffee drinks and great people watching☕️
