“This was my first true experience with the incredible cuisine they refer to as Creole. Aside from my wife's Haitian cooking which is a bit different from the Louisiana interpretation. The Creole Lunch is very unassuming I'm appearance, and easy to miss if you are not looking. Nestled on the side of the road, I noticed the sign and the grassy parking lot. The inside is literally the inside of a house, giving it welcoming appeal. The place is a local, family-owned establishment and it shows in the food and hospitality. Now the matter of the food. It is bleeping epic! Everything I ate, and I ate half my weight in food, was delicious! The Jambalaya was spicy, savory, and teeming with flavor. As was the pork with dirty rice and collard greens. The food was so good, I ordered the Catfish Po Boy as a second entree and ate the whole damn thing. Needless to say it was life-changing. I left here full and sleepy. A meal I will remember for the rest of my life.Parking: A huge grassy lot that has plenty of spaces.Kid-friendliness: Lots of families, the locals of course, in here all of the time.“
“I came from Houston visiting friends. First time here at Laura's 2. I had the fried pork chop with rice and gravy, Mac and cheese and corn matcha. And I tell you the food was delicious and outstanding. So flavorful. Now this home cooking at it's finest. Definitely recommend if you're in Lafayette Louisiana please visit them.“
“The Brown Skillet Restaurant was wonderful! Food is exceptional with an endless variety of menu options to please any taste. And the customer service was very friendly and professional. This is a great place in the heart of downtown Lafayette that is great for individuals, families, groups, and others to have a great meal (dine in or pick up). You'll love it!“
“Came out from Houston for some business, saw this lil local spot and wanted to support someone local instead of a franchise. An it was the best decision ive made in a min. Mr. Jabari is good people and it represents through his cooking. New spot anytime im in on this side .“
“Always on the lookout for good local cooking, I stumbled upon Glenda's Creole kitchen. Never decisive, I was able to get both the smothered ribs and the red beans and sausage with two sides, corn and white beans. The woman who served me was patient and helpful as she described what some of the options were. For $12, I got a large plate of food that will give me at least one other meal. The rib was delicious with a good amount of meat on the bone and the beans and sausage were equally flavorful. If you're looking for fancy atmosphere or someplace romantic, this is not the place to go. If you're more interested in good food than decor, the rustic, homey and somewhat chaotic atmosphere is perfect.Thankfully, their visit by Anthony Bourdain has not seemed to change their way of doing business.“
