“I was visiting my boyfriend in Opelousas and was craving a good cup of coffee so I did a google search and found this little GEM. You guys run to this place!!!!! Not only was the coffee just the right temp, but the taste was amazing and the texture was as smooth as silk. Omg and the home made fresh baked scones were delicious!!!! Oh yea and not to mention I asked for an actual coffee mug and wouldn't you know it they came through. I don't know about y'all but there's something to be said about having a great cup of coffee in an actual mug and not a to go cup. It gives me all the warm and fuzzy's and brings me back. Many times, I've gone to coffee shops where the coffee taste burnt and the snacks are not good. This place had some of the best coffee I've had in a long time. And you guys the atmosphere was so cool!!!! The building the shop is in was originally constructed in 1928 by Parish Bank & Trust. They actually kept some of the original construction so it makes it for interesting conversation and a great chill vibe. If you find yourself traveling through Opelousas or even live here and haven't been by Java Square you're definitely missing out. Stop by and ask for Carson he'll make you the best cup of coffee ever. You won't be disappointed.“

“Their paninis are so good! Ask for recommendations- they will give them to you! But this coffee. It’s HEAVENLY! Most mom and pop coffee shops are very frugal when it comes to strength, but not Cafe Maison! I got a caramel iced latte, and my boyfriend got a vanilla latte. They both have bold coffee flavors. Not burnt or bitter, but you can also taste the vanilla and caramel too. I typically order coffee without sweetener because it’s just too sweet, but I couldn’t give an honest review without changing up the norm. The vibe of the cafe is so homey. We were comfortable enough to make ourselves at home on one of the sofas while we waited. There is a little library that had a decent selection of books. There were many genres to choose from. The restaurant was really clean, and the bathrooms didn’t disappoint either! We were overcharged, but had zero idea until the gentleman working brought us change back and let us know that he had made a mistake. We would’ve never thought twice about the charge. I really wish that I could pack this little cafe up and take it home with me, but since I can’t, we will be back again the next time that we are in the area!“
