9 Best Bar & Grill in Lake Charles

“My wife and daughter and I went to Luna's yesterday, as my wife grew up in Lake Charles and said that Luna's was THE local hangout when she was growing up. With good reason, I found out. The restaurant was a delight. The food was amazing (I had a fantastic hamburger and a really good salad), and the atmosphere made me smile (all around us, throwback posters and paintings from 80s music and 90s movies). Plus the wait staff was very friendly. If you're looking for a good restaurant to do dinner with family and friends, this is the place to go.“

“It’s very “Louisiana” in here and very much so giving “Cheers” vibes. The hubs and I loved our first visit, and one of first few dinners in Lake Charles spent trying out this local gem. Upon looking at the mixed reviews, I admittedly had mixed feelings. But, the movers recommended that we stop by so that’s exactly what we did. We cozied up to the bar, met a few regulars, and had an amazing night of laughs and great food at Cajun’s Wharf. The plan was to check it out and go unnoticed, but that was not the case. It appears that you can’t go inside and not make friends here. Hence, the earlier Cheers reference. TK is a stone-faced sweetheart (but, shhh… I don’t think she wants anyone to know), took excellent care of us, and gave perfect recommendations.
Sidebar: We were so close to trying “backstrap” as noted and seconded by everyone in earshot, but they were out. Next time, for sure. (Because… when in Rome, you clearly eat backstrap! lol)

But, back to what we did try. The duck tenders, the eggs rolls (boudin version), the fried catfish and shrimp were all delish, seasoned well of course, and came out quickly.

The daily specials were also appealing, and we’ll definitely be back as I want to try a burger.

P.S.— I love that they have Crown Peach.

“Sadly Service was shit , We did go on what seemed like a under staffed /busy night our waitress would be seen every 30m to and hour so between beers you ran dry quite fast it made for a boring time. Ordered a bucket or 5 beers waitress says no she only does even numbers when she comes back finally after a good 30 minutes or more she only has four beers and should precede still open all of them inside the bucket without asking because I guess she doesn't want to leave the bottle opener. She begins to tell a sorry because it's a really busy night and she has a whole lot of tables and they're understaffed at night I do notice the whole time that she is serving other tables she does sit down to take every order at their tables and while inside cuz at some point I got tired of waiting for a beer she takes an awfully long time behind the bar now she might be new I don't know. But it didn't seem like she was cut out to be a waitress it's some point she got rude when we asked about why the food was taking so long or my burger pacifically because everyone else has gotten their food and she said that their kitchen is a concession stand not a real kitchen that's why it takes so long because grilling a hamburger takes longer than frying fish. The place they have good music live. And I'm told the building next door is going to be the new restaurant / bar entertainment so I'll probably go back when that happens other than that I don't plan to go back anytime soon. Very disappointed with overall service. Update 2026 been here several more times and the service has gotten way better I recommend sitting at the bar if your drinking or try out steak night.“

“We had a party of 25. We called ahead and seating was available upon arrival. The waitress took our orders and served us quickly and easily. Food was hot, fresh and delicious. Highly recommend!“
