La Madeleine Reviews
I have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years without any issues. The last 2 times we went it was absolutely horrible. New management has completely ruined this once great place to eat. The GM is rude and condescending when I placed my order, the bread was hard, my roast beef was nothing but fat and they served my kids lays potato chips. They used to love the salt and pepper chips, now it’s lays. I asked for croutons on my cup of soup and was told I would be charged...read full review
Chose the Salad Sampler. Everything was delicious! The Cranberry salad, strawberries & cream, AND especially the Onion Soup!
The staff is friendly. The place is charming.
Had been 20 years since visiting since where I had lived didn't have this restaurant. It's STILL one of my favorites. Wasn't disappointed!
Portions too small.
Chicken salad croissant. Good but small.

La Madeleine is a restaurant known for its French cuisine and bakery. The atmosphere is relaxed and charming, with a country feel. The staff is friendly and the food is generally good. Customers particularly enjoy the complimentary bread and jam, as well as dipping their croissants in the French onion soup. The restaurant offers a variety of vegetarian options, including salads and other dishes that can be made vegetarian. While the service used to be attentive and focused on providing a special dining experience, recent reviews suggest a decline in food quality and service, with customers reporting incorrect take-out orders and a lack of care from the staff. Nonetheless, La Madeleine remains a popular destination for those seeking French cuisine in a cozy setting.
Recent reviews mention that the prices can be high, with some items like chicken and mushroom hand pie costing around $10, but praised for their flavor and crisp puff pastry. Quiche is considered good at $7, and the Bran Muffin at about $3.29 is a popular, inexpensive sweet. Croissants are over $4, and a regular coffee costs around $3.30, with small Lattes at $5 or more depending on size. The restaurant also has a breakfast menu and separate doors for dine-in and take-out. Inside is roomy, and there is outside seating, although summer in Mandeville can be very muggy. Customers enjoy hanging out with coffee and pastries or cookies.
Food gets 4 stars overall, but some online orders have been problematic, with meals being switched for less expensive items without reimbursement, and staff not always addressing these issues. However, visitors report a great experience, with fast, friendly service, crayons and coloring sheets for children, good coffee and desserts, and a very clean environment.
