Every time I’m in the Metairie area, I always pass up Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken. So we decided to try it out for once. The inside is pretty standard, but still neat and clean. The service was pretty friendly. We ordered the Chicken Sandwich combo with a side of fries ($11.05), 4 Chicken Wings ($13.00), and a small side of Mac & Cheese ($3.50). The food was good but nothing special in my opinion. I also felt like everything was overpriced for the size and quality. Overall, a decent fried chicken spot but a bit overpriced.

I’ll start with the positive: the chicken is very tasty and well seasoned. That’s about it.
The sides were honestly inedible. The cole slaw is loaded with sugar. WHO PUTS SUGAR IN COLE SLAW? And the mac & cheese was like Velveeta smothered on microwave noodles. I tried to eat the sides to not embarrass my dining guest that highly recommended this restaurant, but ultimately had to throw them both in the trash.
I’ll end on a high note: the gentleman at the counter was very friendly so I give service 5 stars. The food, nah.

Gus fried chicken is the shiznet!
We started with the corn nuggets(fantastic) and the fried green tomatoes (exquisite).
The only thing I’d add is they need a house sauce like a come back or something for that but I mean who the hell do I think I am critiquing Gus?!
I then had the 2 piece dark with baked beans and pot salad, but had I seen they had hush puppies I would have let the dogs out too, yaheardme?
When I say they have the crispiest, most indisputably perfectly fried chicken in the entire world - I guess we can just be glad they are already world famous because if not these guys would be about to blow up.
And you know I love a slice of white bread. Shoutout 901.

The food was okay very very average. It was way overpriced for what you get. I love salty stuff but the sides have enough salt in them to kill a horse. I won't be going back but my server was very nice but I can't give more than two stars
