Nice small restarount near Xavier University. Decent food at affordable prices. My steak teriyaki was a tad chewy, unfortunately. Loved the sauce rice and soup 🍲

Food was cold because we came a half hour before closing but I've had better experiences when I went for lunch

We came for a belated lunch and ordered the chicken katsu and beef teriyaki. At first the ambiance was pleasant, though the music choices were questionable. The waiter came to take our order after a fairly long wait, despite nobody else being in the restaurant. First the soup was brought out. It was blatantly haunted. It moved around the table independently at various points throughout the meal - this was the case for both soups, though the taste was unaffected. Unfortunately this wasn't the only unique thing about mikimoto as the experience was only downhill from there. The chicken was very slim with some pieces being just fried breadcrumbs. The fried rice was barely fried (tasted like soy sauce was just poured on normal white rice - some of the grains were still white) and there was a mistake in our order. The beef teriyaki, although very tender, had little flavour to speak of.
The best part of the meal was the cantaloupe - perhaps because that was the only thing the chefs did not cook. Will not be returning.

Although none of today's Japanese have the vAriety of days of old, this unique eatery holds its own
Hospitable servers and owner who has capitalized on the drive thru concept which surprisingly has not been duplicated locally

Portion size was extremely small. Been coming here for awhile. This time it was very small
I had the blue crab roll and the smoked salmon sushi. Unfortunately I did not like any of it. I'm pretty disappointed, based on other reviews I was expecting better.

This was my 1st time going to Mikimoto, but the selections were SO good. I had some sushi rolls with mango in it. It was delicious! And unique. Our server was also very sweet and accommodating. She asked us questions to make sure our orders were correct and explained what was needed for us to be sure about everything. If you get a chance, try the squid salad. That was fantastic! Definitely worth more visits. I went with my friend and former coworker, so he and I shared appetizers and a few rolls since it was a good bit. It's always fun to go with someone you enjoy being around. Adds to the experience. Give them a shot, though. Mikimoto is easily one of the best sushi places I've gone to in New Orleans.
Parking: Parking is on a lot in the back and on the side by the pickup order window. It is a tight fit on a busy day, so you may have to park along the street. It's a cozy spot, so it's not a large-scale restaurant. We went during a slow hour on (I think that was) Sunday, so we were fine. I imagine it gets full quickly during busy hours.

I've eaten here a few times. I'm very particular with my sushi. This sushi spot is one of the best in the New Orleans area.
