Citizen Public House & Oyster Bar

This place is the Bee's knees. I love this place great drinks delicious food and some of the best service in the area. What i love the most is walking into CPH and not smelling old dirty mops and rags. My faves are the meatball sliders, what the craic burger and the Green tea shots. Love it. I Addis you too try it.

14 of us went for our friends birthday. As we were taking a video of her with her cake, the manager came up behind us. We didn’t greet him for a second as we were finishing up singing, and he looked at us and says “I am a manager, not a crazy person. Black people work in restaurants too.” I am unsure how taking a video singing happy birthday invited him to make this type of comment. It threw us all off and made us feel really uncomfortable and confused during a birthday meal. Despite the fact we are a diverse group ourselves, and paying an $850 tab, this behavior was extremely unprofessional, especially as a manager.

I have to give this place 2 stars due to the food. The food went from great (fried pickles, to okay (tuna tartare) and straight up bad (wedge and burrata)

Just weird food combinations. Coconut in the edge salad that did not go well with the other ingredients and the burrata was covered with sweet sliced almonds making it almost a desert. Not good unfortunately! Super weird.

The food is generally quite good; however, with to-go or delivery orders, there have been recurring quality and oversight issues where details are missed.

For example, oysters were not properly shucked some stuck to the top shell, and a few the shell was left visibly open with sharp, jagged edges that could potentially injure someone…. I couldn’t eat these pictured. They were also sent without lemon, mignonette, or anything else making no sense.

Many times when ordering the mushroom cacio e pepe it had whole mushrooms simply tossed into the risotto rather than being scored or cut in any way, making it hard to eat. Or sometimes no mushroom at all!

I think you may just need bit more help on the line or ask Staff to take a few extra seconds, because these small mistakes add up and can really impact the overall experience

Oneka at the bar answered all questions regarding whiskey and bourbon. This place has absolutely great whiskey brands from different part of the world. You'd want to go her for liquor🥃🍸

Unfortunately this place has gone way south……..sat at the bar….had to hope to get bartenders attention at least 3 times to order drinks and food and get silverware
Fish and chips were mediocre at best….nothing New England about them…fish, plate and fries as well as tartar sauce covered in some kind of seasoning….maybe old bay…whatever it was salty and bad…alot of buck for no bang

Best staff of anywhere in Boston. Friendly and ready to give sight seeing, food or drink advice. Great food too! Try the smoked fish chowder and the bread pudding! YUM!

Nothing but praise for Citizen Public House & Oyster Bar even though we started off on rocky ground. Although the night was busy with concerts & the Red Sox game the kitchen seemed unorganized. From our POV, plates were coming out for tables who arrived well after us. About an hour later we asked one of the staff if they could check on the progress. The manager promptly came over and decided to go above and beyond what was necessary to set our night back on track. I wish I had gotten the manager’s name (sorry!) but you & your server Nicole were so gracious about the chaos and we truly appreciate you taking care of us! We were celebrating a 20th anniversary with dinner and a concert so THANK YOU for ensuring we continued to have the best night possible. The food was absolutely fantastic from the fried pickles to the burgers. Amazing! Thanks again for showing us such kind hospitality.
