We did the tasting menu. It was incredibly delicious! We also did the premium sake tasting. The sake was well paired with each series of tastings, but even better was the server’s depth of knowledge and explanation of each sake. I’m a budding sake buff, so I learned a lot. We spent about 1.6k on this birthday dinner, and it was worth every penny!
Our experience wasn’t the best, we thought for the value (1500$) for two people would be better. First, the food quality wasn’t up to par with other sushi restaurants in Boston. Second, we ordered the beverage pairing with both meals, the wine or sake was poured in the back, they then were brought out with the “bottle”. In my opinion it wasn’t a luxurious experience having the drinks pre poured. We are supposed to trust the restaurant we are getting what we paid for?...
So feel the need to add more of a detailed review of this restaurant, because of any restaurant, if I have to name my absolute favorite restaurant, it's O Ya in Boston. The price tag keeps me from coming here all the time, but it is worth every penny. The omakase experience here in terms of the food you get, the pacing of plates, the recommendations from the wait staff are absolutely perfect, and I don't drop the word perfect lightly.
