“We stopped in just before 5pm on a Saturday and thankfully we did because the place got busy quickly. There was plenty of staff working to handle the night. One of us ordered a 2 meat tray with brisket & pork belly. The chosen sides were basement potato salad and Mac & cheese. The other ordered a pulled pork tray. Sides were coleslaw and Mac & cheese. Both had sweet tea and shared a bucket of biscuits w honey butter. The best part was the pulled pork. It was wicked moist and flavorful. I feel the brisket was a bit dry, but there are 3 sauces on the side. We loved the biscuits with honey butter and the Mac & cheese was good. Our meal came to about $77, before tip. The staff are mostly efficient but our waiter could have been better. He didn't ask what we wanted to drink when he greeted us, he wasn't very personable in comparison to another waiter who gave very detailed descriptions of the specials when speaking to a table next to us. We asked for a sweet tea refill and didn't get it. Seemed sporadic, but not new. We'd go back though to try it again.“

I've tried all their sides, brussels are DELICOUS. Zucchini salad is also VERY good. I do think it has a LOT of almonds, but I could have just gotten a nut heavy scoop, so definitely recommend! “Decided to walk through Allston on a grody, misty afternoon and look for some food. Walked in by chance and at my SO’s insistence that we give it a look. I loved everything about the aesthetic, and enjoyed the soft music playing in the background. Being able to choose the ingredients I wanted - knowing they were organic and that they looked more than delicious raw...that was the absolute best part. The gentleman at the front was supremely helpful and answered any question thrown at him - by anyone in the shop. The price was more than worth the amount of food received, and the care extended to us as guests was wonderful. I absolutely would recommend anyone to give this a try. Don’t hesitate to ask a question, you will definitely get an answer. :)“

“It might sound strange to some, but I want to thank SGD for having some of the best rice in the area. A lot of restaurants go for cheaper rice options to save on costs. SGD using better quality rice really does elevate the meal, and helps it stand out among other Asian dining options. Thank you for this attention to detail!

“Came in on a Sunday evening when every other hot pot spot in Allston had lines out the door. This was the only place where we could sit right away. Based on the name, I assumed it was strictly a hot pot joint, but the menu was much broader. Standard QR code ordering system, food came out fast.

Most of my friends recommended the dry pots, so we went with pork and beef versions, plus a regular pork hot pot for comparison. All pots come with six toppings by default (vegetables and noodles), with proteins as add-ons. Even with extras, each pot was under $25, and the portions were huge. The regular hot pot was fine, but the dry pots had way more flavor and heat. Since I don’t have dry pots often, it’s difficult to say whether this was top tier, but most of the toppings were good quality.

We also tried the stir-fried string beans and chili wontons, both solid. But knowing how big the pots were, we probably could’ve skipped the sides.

Overall not as flashy as the big-name hot pot spots nearby, but way easier to get into and much cheaper. Might come back for the dry pots.“
