“This is a great establishment when it comes to downtown Boston eating. The food is well prepared, although not very filling (jambalaya being a delicious exception). The popcorn shrimp was not a traditional one. However, it was still good nonetheless. The shrimp and grits were great, although the grits were quite creamy, more than is typical in grits. The shrimp was quite honestly amazing and a great part of this meal. The jambalaya looked and tasted delicious with a great blend of flavours. The service and atmosphere were great. However, the washroom was in a weird basement in which you had to take an elevator to. The place was overall great eating, and I absolutely would recommend it.5/5“
“? On Wednesday evening, I ventured to Cap’t Loui in Braintree with my brother and his girlfriend, eager to explore the buzz surrounding this chain restaurant. Despite not being a fervent seafood enthusiast—despite hailing from New England—I approached the experience with an open mind.? Our evening kicked off with their cocktail pouch drinks, an unexpected delight that masked their potency dangerously well. Definitely a must-try! 8/10. Now, onto the pièce de résistance—the seafood boil! The seafood boil has endless options from lobster, clams, mussels, shrimp, calamari etc. We got the shrimp and snow crab, drenched in their signature Capt Loui sauce. The customizable experience was a true delight! We also opted for corn and potatoes as our sides and made everything medium spice level (although you could go higher!) It’s messy, it’s interactive, but oh-so-worth it for the explosion of flavors! 8/10. Remember your bib and gloves to keep the sauce at bay!? As a delightful diversion, we sampled their garlic noodles—oozing with garlic and cheese—perfect for those seeking an alternative to seafood. 8/10.? And let’s not forget the crispy fried fish and chips basket, where each bite was a symphony of flavors, especially when paired with their Cajun tartar sauce. A solid 8/10.? Wrapping up our culinary journey, we indulged in the funnel cake fries with ice cream, a divine and shareable finale to our meal. 8/10.? In summary, Cap’t Loui offers a unique dining adventure even for those not fully immersed in the seafood scene. With locations in Braintree and Stoneham, it’s an experience worth embarking on.Food: 8/10 Affordability: 7/10 Ambiance: 8/10“
“This was a brand new spot for our family. Food was good, but honestly didn't give a Cajun seafood boil experience vibe. We got a tilapia fish sandwich with fries and salt and pepper shrimp mild and egg rolls with fried clay bellies a side of rice and beverages. The salt and pepper shrimp 10/10 the other food was okay. Wish I could say more. And it was cold inside since it was winter time so bring a jacket or two when dining in.“
“The truth is that it is a place of 10 points, obviously you have to understand that the idea is to "eat with your hands."The food tasted excellent, especially the fried crab and lobster. The fries that accompanied the crab were incredible. The service was super good with us always with a smile and friendly.Obviously you have to keep in mind that some dishes are a little spicy (nothing excessive) and that they are eaten with your hands (with gloves that they give you in the place), if you like this you definitely have to go.Highly recommended.“
“The food and service started out great. A group of eight came in. Once they did, our service got slow, and our food was given to us cool in temperature, not hot. Being that this was an all you can eat timed meal, with restrictions the restaurant sets this wasn't right.“
“Overall rating: 5 stars, a hidden gem in Boston and my absolute favorite for seafood boilFood: seafood boil, calamari, noodles, we got the combo bag which could either be purchased in 1/2 pound bags or 1 pound bags. Our combo bag had shrimp, king crab legs, mussels, potatoes, and corn.Texture: the house Cajun sauce is gooey and delicious, it coats the seafood and sides beautifullyPricing: $35 for a half pound bag (you get a half pound of chosen seafood) Ambiance: There isn't much for ambiance, a few nautical inspired decor. The windows face Boston Common and lets a good amount of light inSeating & Parking: lots of seating, it's located above a cafe, no parking spacesService: straight forward!Music: pop and countryBathrooms: men and women bathroomsFinal comments: move favorite seafood boil spot, they empty your seafood boil into trays for easiest access“
“The holiday margaritas were amazing to start, my boyfriend said wow about 6x while eating the calamari which was breaded IN HOUSE which definitely gives you the WOWZA feeling, I ordered the sautéed lobster roll and he ordered the blackened fish. And WOW the lobster roll was the best I've ever had EVER, it just melted in your mouth and paired with garlic butter and toasted bread MUAH perfectooo also came with sweet potato fries. The blackened fish came with sausage and shrimp with a creole sauce and it was gone in seconds.. we were so happily full after. Talked about the food alllll the way home and how great it was!! Service was also soo great, our server was so sweet and recommended just about every single thing we ordered!“
“I went to Hook & Reel on Friday (2/9/24) with my boyfriend and we had a waitress by the name of Besty….OMG she was awesome. She was so pleasant and nice and all smile, even when my boyfriend insisted on trying the crab meat fries and then after getting them he was not a fan of them, she took them away with a smile on her face and let us know it was taken off of the bill. She asked us how our food was and just made sure we was taken care of and happy while eating there. Besty is definitely an assist to the restaurant and if she can get a raise she deserves one, she ROCKS!!!! Go head Besty ( I wish I could spell her real name) lol“
“If you like shellfish you'll love this place!! Take out or eat in!! The service is quick down to a system from the host to waitstaff to the kitchen!! This place cater to a mix of young adults and young professionals. It can get pretty busy and there maybe a waiting list expected at peak hour but it's worth the wait. The bathroom is clean and the decor is pretty basic.“
