“This place was just SO good. They sell a variety of things, but most notably, the shaved ice. We ordered the mango sticky rice shaved ice, which was definitely the most popular as all the people next to us ordered the same thing as well. The shaved ice was the most perfect, milky, melts-in-your-mouth texture, the mango pieces ripe and soft, and the cream on top the perfect hint of being lightly sweet. We personally found the complementary mango syrup to be too sweet for our tastes, but that’s just personal preference. Highly recommend. We thought the portion was perfect for 3 people, but I’d say each bingsoo could be eaten with 2-4 people. They’re each around $13-16 so it’s relatively affordable when splitting.

Service was so good. The girl working and bringing us food was just so sweet and kind. The man working (who we assumed was the owner) was so eager and sweet as well. The food came out super quickly.

Atmosphere was definitely more of the late night hangout vibe when we went. It was loud, semi-packed, casual, but we were still able to hold conversation and it fit the vibe. During crowded peak times, it’s definitely more of an eat and leave place rather than a sit down for a few hours type, so just keep that in mind!“

“Tucked just off the steady rhythm of Commonwealth Avenue, Kyo Matcha doesn’t announce itself loudly. It doesn’t need to. The space is small, almost deliberately so—light wood, clean lines, a quiet hum of conversation. It feels less like a destination and more like a pause. The kind of place you slip into between obligations, not to indulge extravagantly, but to recalibrate.

The dessert arrives without theatrics: a swirl of matcha and milk soft serve, crowned and partially engulfed by glossy black boba. But what looks simple quickly turns layered, almost architectural in its contrasts. The soft serve itself is restrained—this is not the aggressively sweet, artificial matcha that dominates so many menus. The green tea carries a gentle bitterness, clean and slightly grassy, grounded by the mellow sweetness of the milk base. It’s balanced, deliberate, and, importantly, adult.

Then there’s the boba. Still warm.

That detail changes everything.

The pearls sit beneath and along the side of the ice cream, their heat slowly bleeding into the cold cream, creating a shifting boundary between temperatures. Each bite becomes unstable in the best way: cold turns lukewarm, creamy meets elastic chew, sweetness deepens and then recedes. The boba itself is soft without collapsing, with just enough resistance to remind you it was cooked moments ago. It’s not a topping—it’s a counterpoint.

What makes this dessert work is not novelty, but tension. Temperature against temperature. Bitterness against sugar. Airy softness against dense chew. Nothing dominates; everything negotiates.

They are very warm, friendly, patient, and have great insight on all the flavors and products. Because of them I found my favorite Fomu flavor. It was Rose Lavender but I was introduced to Lemon Meringue, tart lemon ice cream (coconut base), with graham cracker crust and yummy vegan marshmallow! “I was back visiting home since I moved to Sweden a few years back and my friend brought me by this place. Amazing! The cookies are big, but they are well balanced so they aren’t overly sweet. The outer layer has a good crunch, and they get softer and goer towards the center. The cosmic brownie cookie was a better version of a childhood classic. The brookie was a tasty take on the hybrid dessert.

The chocolate chip cookie, I have to say thank you because they really did have a good ratio of chocolate chip to cookie. Often times bakers will pack in chocolate chips/chunks to the point that it may as well be a chocolate bar and not a cookie. This one had a good ratio where the cookie and chocolate balanced each other nicely.

I only wish I had an opportunity to go back before flying back to Sweden.“

“The hype is truly worth it. Delicious and fresh mochi! They have pre-made options and made to order options as well. I got the Matcha Mochi from with rice powder and my friends got Peach with Oreo dusting. Absolutely delicious, super soft and chewy. They also serve mochi donuts, drinks and other bakery items so there is definitely something for everyone. The service can take some time if you are getting made to order item but it’s worth it trust!“

While there I tried three drinks: the Assam black tea with honey boba, the rose milk tea (no topping), and the Vietnamese iced coffee. All three were delicious. The Assam was a great milk tea for anyone who likes it simple and nostalgic. Nice and sweet, but not too sweet. The rose milk tea was fragrant and delicious as well. In terms of the boba, they use honey boba, which is a nice choice; this gives them a good taste, which adds nicely to the teas. The Vietnamese iced coffee was also a nice surprise. If you’ve ever had the real deal form a Vietnamese restaurant, then you would know that the coffee flavor can be strong and extra bitter. For someone who loves coffee, but is a wimp with the bitterness, this iced coffee was just the right balance. It gets even better as your ice melts. Lastly. I tried some of their Hong Kong cakes, specifically the pandan flavored cake, and the mochi filling. It was heavenly… Crisp, sweet, and flavorful. I look forward to trying the other flavors. I don’t go to Boston too often, but I would definitely come back to try more drinks at Sweet Sip the next time I’m visiting.“

“Warm and inviting spot with friendly staff. The grass jelly soup with taro was perfect on a cold day—sweet, herbal, and authentic. The boba tofu was excellent—chewy and not too sweet. “Insomnia Cookies is my go-to spot whenever I’m craving something sweet late at night. The cookies are usually warm, soft in the middle, and super satisfying — especially the classics like Chocolate Chunk and Snickerdoodle. When they’re fresh out of the oven, they really hit the spot.

That said, the experience can be a little inconsistent. During busy hours, wait times get long, and delivery can sometimes show up colder than expected. Prices are on the higher side as well, especially if you’re ordering multiple items or adding ice cream.

Overall, though, it’s a fun late-night treat with a great variety of flavors, and the convenience is hard to beat. When they’re warm and fresh, they’re absolutely worth it.“
