“Food: I thought the broth rivaled a lot of other popular options in Chinatown/Allston. The spicy options were my favorite and complemented many of the options well. I thought the sauce bar was decent but not as extensive as some other places.
Service: mostly self-serve off an iPad - they won't check up too often.
Atmosphere: I appreciate the lanterns and the booths in the back. Will come out and sing for birthdays too which seems to be popular.
Overall: quality across the menu is great, and the soup bases are possibly my favorite in Boston. Can be a bit more expensive than other AYCE options, but generally worth it for the quality.“

“Decided to walk through Allston on a grody, misty afternoon and look for some food. Walked in by chance and at my SO’s insistence that we give it a look. I loved everything about the aesthetic, and enjoyed the soft music playing in the background. Being able to choose the ingredients I wanted - knowing they were organic and that they looked more than delicious raw...that was the absolute best part. The gentleman at the front was supremely helpful and answered any question thrown at him - by anyone in the shop. The price was more than worth the amount of food received, and the care extended to us as guests was wonderful. I absolutely would recommend anyone to give this a try. Don’t hesitate to ask a question, you will definitely get an answer. :)“

“I visited on a weekday right when the place opened. It wasn’t very crowded at first, but it started filling up as time went on.
They currently have an All-You-Can-Eat deal, and I was pleased with it. The service was prompt and attentive, with quick water refills and speedy delivery of dishes. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations.
We sampled the Pork Belly, Pork, Beef, and Lamb, all of which were tasty and well-portioned for our group. We also tried the watercress, fried bean curd, silken tofu, quail egg, and noodles. While most items were standard, the noodles stood out as particularly good.
For appetizers, we had the pork dumplings and brown sugar rice cake. The pork dumplings were typical, but the brown sugar rice cake was a highlight—crispy and not overly sweet.
The sauce bar had a solid selection, including the usual options and a nice touch of chopped peanuts for added flavor.
There was also a dessert bar with ice cream and popsicles, which was a nice bonus.
The ambiance was quite pleasant, with unique chairs and a well-thought-out theme. The only minor issue was that the pot was a bit far from my seat, but that was more about my seating arrangement than anything else.
Overall, it was a great experience, and I’d definitely return.“

“Great value for everything you get! The variety of veggies and sides was great, hands down my favorite part! They also had white rice, prepared chow mien, pastries, and fruit. Oh and little containers of ice cream. We did have to wave our waiters down but it was no biggie, they were all very friendly.“

“This was great food. Everything was obviously fresh and high quality. We ordered from the menu, not hot pot, and all the dishes were cooked exactly perfectly. Even the appetizers were clearly cooked with care. And they have a really extensive menu of hot pot items, plus plenty of other dishes. They really care about making the best food and they succeed.“

“This place is genuinely amazing. They put so much love into the atmosphere and the staff are incredibly helpful and considerate. Beware though, even the mild version of the spicy hot pot broth is pretty freaking spicy!
Also, beware of over eating because the food is amazing and the portions are large. I will absolutely come again.“

“Food: the options for the grill were great, it was hard to understand at first but when you figure it out you can make pretty good food, it was tough to find some sauces due to the lack of labels
Service: the server did decent service, nothing bad but nothing notable
Atmosphere: the building was clean and presentable, there weren't food labels on a couple of items so it was difficult to know what you were eating if you haven't seen a lot of Korean food before“
“Generous portions for cheap! They give a lot of rice which fills you up, but a decent portion of main dish (I got pork and tofu). The main dishes are a bit oily, but they taste very good. The pork had a decent amount of lean meat as well as fatty, which is good. I wish the tofu had a little more taste, but it was still good. Food came very quickly. The soup it came with was too salty though, tasted like salt water. Everything here was around $12 which is a good deal! Recommend for a quick but filling meal.“

“Easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I walked in, everything was dialed in clean, welcoming atmosphere, fast seating, and a level of organization you don’t usually see in most places. The service was top notch across the board; every staff member was attentive, respectful, and genuinely made sure everything was perfect without being overbearing. The manager clearly runs a tight ship because everything flows smoothly orders come out quick, nothing feels chaotic, and you can tell there’s real leadership behind the scenes keeping everything running at a high level. And the food? Honestly exceptional. Every bite felt intentional, fresh, and cooked with care. This place sets the standard for what a restaurant should be. I’d give it more than 5 stars if I could.“

“Restaurant is has cozy and chill vibe. Staff is very friendly. The Biang Biang noodles are the star of the show! Super flavorful and great dough texture, taste very homemade. Meat pie is good too, almost as good as in China. The garlic crawfish bursts with flavor, they make it fresh from live crawfish so take a little more time. The pork belly with preserved veggie is way too sweet but meat is super tender so I took it home and ran it through hot water bath twice to get it to be less sweet😅“

“My 100% go-to for hot pot. Sauce bar, all-you-can-eat, huge menu, and great service. What else can I say? You’ll be eating within five minutes of sitting down. Also, don’t forget the to-go ice cream if you eat in! Ibasaw checks all the boxes when it comes to hot pot.“

“Went here with some friends a few weeks ago and absolutely LOVED it, everything is at the buffet except the main meats so the vegan in our party had a great time. Also, little to not risk of food waste as you can get only as much as you want. Flushing is very cool and it was a great time“

“I tried the hot lamb hot pot recently, and it really stood out as a rich, satisfying experience from start to finish.
The broth is the first thing you notice — deep, aromatic, and full of lamb flavor without being too greasy. It has that slow-cooked warmth that keeps building as you eat, especially once the spices from Sichuan pepper, garlic, and chili start blending into it.
The lamb itself is tender and fresh, cooking quickly in the boiling broth while staying juicy and flavorful. It absorbs the soup really well, so every bite has a strong, comforting taste. The fat renders just enough to add richness without feeling heavy.
What makes it really good is the balance — you can pair it with vegetables like napa cabbage, mushrooms, and tofu, and it all soaks up the broth beautifully. It turns into a full, well-rounded meal rather than just meat in soup.
Overall, hot lamb hot pot is the kind of dish that feels both hearty and comforting. It’s perfect if you want something warming, flavorful, and a bit indulgent, especially on a cold day or when you’re craving something deeply savory.“

“Not sure why it’s not rated higher for the price and hot pot options. We use to live near Spring Shabu in Allston which is fantastic! Tai Xi’s price for unlimited meat and seafood in conjunction with broth choices are wonderful! We always leave satisfied and the service is fast.“

“I'm a west coast Shabu purist who used to work in Japan and I have to admit this place is very Chinese hot pot inspired BUT they do it in a clean honest Japanese way. Bright flavors, great cuts of meat, and fresh veggies. Great happy vibe and the window seat is an idyllic contrast between clean cultured shabu and gritty Chinatown. Love this place!“

“The food was good. Good for the price. The service is good, but could be improved. Some parts of the buffet were almost empty and they didn’t refill it. The restroom not so clean. The drink too sweet with almost nothing of alcohol, a lot of ice.“

“If you’re craving a hotpot experience that hits every single note this one is a must. From the moment you walk in, the space feels warm, elegant, and perfect for a cozy, indulgent meal.
The real star? The broths.
The Wild Mushroom is rich, earthy, and deeply comforting, while the Spicy Premium Beef Tallow brings that bold, numbing heat that hotpot lovers dream about.
What I loved:
✨ Premium selection of meats & fresh seafood
✨ Broths that are layered, flavorful, and unforgettable
✨ The staff — incredibly attentive and they actually craft your sauces for you (and trust me, they know what they’re doing… chef’s kiss)
Every bite feels like an experience from dipping perfectly sliced meats into bubbling broth to pairing it with those addictive house-made sauces.“
