I heard the stories and tried it. $13 cash only got me the General Gao's Chicken with pork fried rice and some broccoli, and it was a solid filling deal! The rice alone was a bit plain but mixed with the chicken sauce it was satisfying. They have some interesting options on the menu, like Fried Chicken Wings with Banana, that I thought might be odd relics of another age, but right after I took a picture of it, a woman walked in and ordered it!
I enjoyed my take-out food which was dumplings with pork fried rice! It was delicious, the dumplings had a crispy shell and I had plenty of sauce!
When I came in, the store was a bit messy. With napkins and a few plates on tables but there was someone cleaning tables while I came in already which is good. The environment is interesting, feels like I'm in a different time with the art they have and I like their mirror along the wall.
