I ordered 3 trays of food from Salem Food Market the day before a family luncheon, the antipasto salad, the stuffed shells, and the chicken parm. I asked to pick up at 11:30 and the food was ready early, my extended family (all Italian heritage and great Italian cooks in their own right) raved about the food. I got there just as they closed at 7PM. I figured I was going to get told Sorry! But, no. They took my order and made me a sandwich. I was very happy with the service and the sandwich.

It was fine but nothing more. The eggplant could have been crispier, the tomato sauce was in short supply and nothing special, bread was all right, man making the sandwich was nice. I expected more from the excellent reviews. And I know it's mostly takeout and delivery, but the space itself is just grim and unappealing. Glad I tried it but no need to go out of my way.
