In regards to the food & Cocktalis Amazing !!! I’ve dined at Top mix in Jamaica plain several times. Each time has been a great experience except for 1 time. Decided to dine in at Top mix JP with a friend for diner and some drinks … we both ordered the fried pork chops which was seasoned and cooked to perfection might I add. We also had rice and beans with fried & sweet plantains, a side of asparagus. Had a great cocktail might I add the bartender makes great drinks . This was A Thursday evening in December when I was last there , after he great meal and drinks my fiend had a phone call to take , at this time I decided to proceed outside to have a cigarette. I lit my cigarette and about a minute later the hostess came out to inform me that I couldn’t smoke in front of the restaurant and stated I would have to stand in the side walk if I wanted to smoke. I politely informed the hostess no worries at all not a problem. I moved to the sidewalk and continued to smoke. I never gave it another thought, as it’s more than understandable if a business owner dosent want customers smoking in front of the establishment. Most people don’t want to walk I. Or out of a restaurant into a cloud of smoke totally get that. As I’m smoking and thinking about how great of a time I had , I noticed another customer come outside on their cell phone and proceeded to light a cigarette and smoke directly in front of the restaurant. I would like to add the restaurant storefront is made of glass , the same hostess watched the other customer smoke the cigarette however never came out to inform them that smoking wasn’t allowed in front of the restaurant. I found that quite strange as couldn’t understand why the same message want given to the other customer. I finished my cigarette, then proceeded back inside the restaurant to head back to the bar but not before I stopped and spoke to the hostess and stated hey just for awareness there is a customer smoking in front of the restaurant however you didn’t inform them they couldn’t smoke in front of the restaurant. The hostess nervously laughed and said ohh nooo he wasn’t. I stated he’s smoking right now you can see clearly through glass. I told her I’m not being difficult just thought she should know the customer was smoking as she has been watching him from inside the restaurant but never said anything. The hostess walks away towards the back of the restaurant the ln came back to the front and went outside and laughed and said something to the customer , the customer laughed and continued smoking … the customer then proceeded to come in the restaurant sat at the bar across from me and kept looking at me awkwardly. The gentleman looked to be of Hispanic ethnicity, as anyone knows that dines at top mix it is a Spanish restaurant. I happen to be a black man who has grew up in the Latino community and very fond of the culture. However it’s always been very prevalent that there is a bias in the Latino community towards those that are not Hispanic , this night at top mix that bias was shown. I felt because I was a customer and spent money I should have been treated in the same regard as the Hispanic gentleman that was allowed to smoke in front of the restaurant. Top mix is a great place to eat and drink however as a business it’s important to make sure the staff of your the business is displaying best practices to ALL of its customers as it can leave a nasty taste in the mouth if customers when they are treated differently. It’s. Encounter’s like this that make a customer not want to return to the establishment. With that said I will never return to Top Mix to dine in, or do take out. As great as the food is and drinks I would prefer to spend my money with a business that respects me and will treat with fairness as a customer. I do plan to share my experience with my friends and family and social media as I believe it’s important to know how this establishment dosent see that all money is green and ethnicity shouldn’t predict the treatment you receive at a

The waiter lied to me and said that my cocktail didn’t come with the alcohol yet its clearly written on their menu that it came with Hennessy. She just simply asked me if I wanted Remi or Dussey so that left me under the impression that there was no henny and proceeded to charge me seven dollars for Dusse. When I when I requested for this drink originally, she did not mention that these were additional charges and until the bill came…this place is here to rob you for mediorce food and drinks not even worth the 23 dollars a pop they charged me. A drink that originally was 14 on the menu. never again

This has to be the best places in Jamaica Plain. I was there with friends last Friday, not only are food and drinks amazing but we got the best bartender in town, Juan Jose topped it off!!! He’s the to-go-to man! 🥂

It was a perfect occasion to finally experience the Top Mix in Jamaica Plain for breakfast. My wife and I appreciated the food and the service. As regular breakfast foodies we always enjoy a good breakfast experience with a unique twist.

I have been meaning to try this place forever! Finally went in for a drink and was so pleasantly surprised. The bar staff was so intensive in the best part of the night was when they sang Happy Birthday to me believe it happy birthday but I still really enjoyed it. The music was just the right touch and only created a better ambiance. Can't wait to go back and enjoy the food.

I want to first start off by saying I always frequent a small business multiple times before I leave a review. This is my fifth time coming here and I’m so fed up with the terrible service. The food is ok so I come back and I know how hard it can be for businesses in the community and never let one bad experience deter from coming back. Today I celebrated a family members bday and it was awful and just ruined afternoon. Waiters and staff were rude. Our food was not properly cooked. We were literally the FIRST customers of the day and we asked to be seated at a table near the window bc we wanted natural lighting (mind you we did this to get content for the restaurant) the waitress told us she would move us there. Instead she allowed another party take our table and lied to us about why. There were literally only a total of 15 people inside the entire restaurant during our service so there was no reason for us to not have the best experience.

The food was completely subpar and I’m disappointed and embarrassed for you all bc I absolutely know this restaurant can do better. I guess we weren’t worthy of the service and that is so disheartening to me. Smh

This is literally my 4th time going and every single time the food gets better, the drinks get yummier the service and staff is undeniably amazing.. the atmosphere rocks!! The music is bumping and we have the most amazing time… I recommend this spot to anyone looking for great food, the staff is super knowledgeable and Jesus (our waiter) was so freaking amazing and patient with our large group!! .. we will definitely keep coming back for more..
