“Visited here based on ratings and it did not disappoint! Tried to find a weak spot with so many things on the menu but could not. Sushi was great, sauces complimented the fish without overpowering. The Ramen bowl was good, flavor was more complex than expected from Ramen. Poke bowl was great with nice with a good balance of various flavors. Service was timely and polite! Service is personable and excellent even when they are busy. [As an observation more than criticism, Asian restaurants in general have had to struggle obtaining and affording top quality rice of all sorts, from Japanese-grown short grain to premium Indian basmati. Unfortunately, it seems Yama is no exception — the rice is good and acceptable, but not exceptional.] Lunch bento boxes and sashimi/sushi specials are excellent and good value.“

“I love Takara in Medfield. The staff is wonderful. I eat here almost every week. Even during COVID, my family did take out weekly. This is my go-to restaurant. My wife takes me there as a reward!! The food is wonderful and well prepared. I think that I have tried almost everything on the menu over the years. My favorite meal is the spicy tuna avocado salad! The rest of my family enjoys the sushi, sashimi, and various maki rolls which I always help them finish. Korean inspired food is a nice twist on typical sushi. Great place with great service. Great bar and wines too!“

“I ordered the spicy tuna which didn't have any spices and it may have had the substitute the mango for pineapple and also they substituted the tuna for crab but none of that matters because it was delicious regardless even with substitutions I'm definitely going to buy this again it got four stars but I would have gave it five if not for somebody substitutions“

“Sushi Man is a restaurant with a long history in the Newton area, first being located in a smaller area right off of Route 9 before moving to their current location a few years ago.

“Incredibly friendly and attentive service. The doors (there are two) are super heavy, and I couldn’t open it. Someone jumped right away to help.

I got the Japanese udon noodles and the miso soup. The soup was fishier than I remember miso being but it’s been a long time since I have had. It was hearty and hot and enjoyable.

The udon noodles were well-seasoned. The veggies were delicious. The chicken was a little fattier than I am used to but it was all yummy and the food came promptly after ordering.

My water was refilled as I drank and the check came just as I was finishing my meal, so very attentive but respectful service.

Would recommend.

Food was amazing they knew exactly what I could and couldn't have and said mine would be cooked in the kitchen not on the hibachi grill with everyone else's. “What happened? Are there new owners? This used to be the best Chinese Restaurant on par with China Temple in Brookline. The people at the front desk are very rude & not at all welcoming, & the take out food was terrible ( no inside dining during CIVID). I don’t mind paying their new higher prices, but do not cut back on the food quality. You have lost a long time customer.“
