C-Stones Tavern, the former Vel’s, offers a lively atmosphere with a full bar and friendly waitstaff. Chicken is moist, tender, with flavorful seasoning. Sides include cole slaw, baked potato, wild rice, freshly made salads, and chowder served hot and super plentiful. The fisherman’s platter and shrimp fettuccine alfredo are delicious, and the clam chowder uses the same recipe as Vel’s. Despite being busy, there is not a long wait to be seated or for food and drinks. Some reviews note the cocktail menu is sorely lacking and the interior is sad and bland, losing the character of the old Vel’s.
