Embarrassed to say that it was my first time eating here. Have been coming up to Wellfleet since 2006 and was even married here. So can’t believe I had never been. Had a great dinner last sitting at the bar. Bonnie was very nice and helped me decide on the shrimp scampi after I asked a million questions on other choices. Great recommendation. Plus she also shucked the little neck clams that I started off with. Everything was amazing as was the absolute best bread pudding I’ve ever had. Overall great dinner. Looking forward to coming back and supporting this 40+ year old family business.

This place is great. The service, the people watching, cozy. It's so good we were there for the Wellfleet oyster fest, and every night when we were trying to pick where to eat, we picked here 3 nights in a row. The owner greets you out front and just makes you feel welcome.

Van Rensselaer's has been our favorite restaurant for many years. The food is fresh, varied, healthful and delicious. Diane & Peter always welcome their guests personally and with heartfelt warmth. The newsletters that they send out via email keep us all informed and are much appreciated. VR is also a good neighbor to Wellfleet and CapeCod by supporting many worthy causes in the area. This was another great summer at VR and we are already looking forward to their opening again next spring. Diane and Peter, we hope you enjoy a well deserved rest during the winter. We were treated to both breakfast and dinner at Van Rensselaers. Breakfast was phenomenal! An omelet that was fluffy and greens on the side was delicious and my husbands eggs Benedict looked and tasted perfect! Our dinner did not disappoint as we were warmly greeted by the owners and checked on several times. The server's attention was welcome. Scallops with New England lobster stuffing hit the right note! Best meal we have shared in a long time! We will be returning!

We were seated quickly. Our server was right at the table and filled our water glasses and got our drinks order in quickly. Loved the calamari starter. The breaded cod was great and so was the lobster. Very busy place - lots of large parties it seemed. Got out of the for around $70 per person - would have been more if there had been alcohol involved. Very nice place. Busy but nice. Server was awesome.

The food was excellent, as was the service and the atmosphere. Van Rensselaer's never fails to please us to no end! My North Atlantic Cod was outstanding as was my companion's Salmon. The Blueberry/Cranberry Bread Pudding made an excellent dessert.

Everyone very helpful and friendly. Wife had seafood linguini. Very tasty and lots of seafood, clams, lobster chunks, shrimp, scallops all perfectly cooked, not overcooked! And a large portion. I had scallops and chips. Scallops cooked perfectly and very flavorful. Not greasy. We've been here before with similar experience. A go to place for dinners near Wellfleet!

Dine here with some frequency. Service is always first-rate. Food is solid and offered at reasonable prices. Offerings of fish with various preparation alternatives is a nice feature.

Dinner at VR's is something we always look forward to. Everyone who works there is so friendly and many have worked there for quite a long time. The menu has something to please anyone. I have so many favorites! The lobster cakes are to die for and the cajon salmon is fabulous. We also appreciate that the seafood comes in two portions, small or regular. The dessert menu is also delicious. AND their drink selections are yummy with different specials regularly. Needless to say we really love going to VR's.
We had alovely dinner on the patio. They brought wayer for our dog, turned on the heater when it started to chill down. Our server was very attentive and our dinners were very tasty. All in all a wonderful time.

We chose this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. Our arrival was greeted both warmly and friendly. Both my husband and I chose the baked stuffed lobster. The stuffing was large sea scallops and large shrimp with a perfectly seasoned bread stuffing lightly dusted on top. The lobster, scallops and shrimp combination was simply perfection.!!

We were not disappointede with the seafood options at Van Rensselaer's. The Clams Casino were excellent and we loved that, in addition to the varied menu, one can choose from four ways to have one's choice of seafood prepared. I opted for my sea scallops with linguini to be prepared "mediterranean style" with olives, lemon, basil and feta cheese - they were delectable! I highly recommend this restaurant.
