We over stayed our welcome! A good friend and I met for breakfast at Modern Electric Lunch a few weeks ago. We catch up a few times a year and usually spend a good 2 hours talking. The menu indicates a 1 1/2 hour limit which surprised me that they would need to have that stated. Well, it took 10 minutes for my waiter to come to my table and take my beverage order; he did not tell me any special drink items so I had a plain coffee, which took another 10 minutes to be served. Then, when my friend arrived, he waited 10 minutes to have his beverage order taken and we promptly ordered our food. Over an hour later, our meal came. When we arrived the restaurant was not very busy as we were one of the first 10 customers. What we think the problem is, is the amount of take-out orders the kitchen was doing. It was non-stop with take out delivery drivers picking up food. We think this affected meal preparation. My food was ok, I had an eggs Benedict and a beet salad, although when it finally arrived I had to use the washroom as I had been drinking coffee for over an hour. Our server came around a few times to bring us coffee (after waving him down) but at no point did he ever try to upsell us anything or ask if we wanted a dessert. As a mother of 3 I was out on the town and would have ordered anything he would have suggested. Finally we asked for the cheque and kept talking a bit more before we got our coats on. The server came over to our table and asked that we pay and leave! I was very embarrassed that we were being kicked out; we were paying customers, we each ordered two separate dishes, beverages and would have ordered more had it been offered, plus it took over an hour to get our food! I stated this to the server publicly. I certainly didn’t leave a tip.The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice and bright, everything was clean and the food was fine but the service was not good and I will not be returning. If you plan on visiting, make sure you bring a watch or try ordering your food to go.

I have always admired Winnipeg architecture ?The Modern Electric Lunch is a trendy Winnipeg Breakfast & Lunch spot in the heart of Winnipeg in one of the original old brick industrial type buildings; the perfect spot to join friends or family for a great breakfast or lunch. From the contracting beautifully old exterior and modern interior, the tile artwork featuring downtown Winnipeg, large windows bringing in the morning light and the amazing food, everything complimented each other. The food was fresh and delicious ?The chorizo hash was on a bed of refried beans offering a uniqueness I've yet to have but was splendid. The eggs benedict was gorgeous and it too tasted phenomenal. We saw the sour dough toast at a neighboring table and had to have it. It came with an earl grey fig jam that was to die for.Service was pleasant and attentive. We will definitely be back.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Atmosphere was amazing, it was smaller than I expected but I really appreciated that it wasn’t super loud like many brunch spots. The coffee was an 11/10 and we even ordered additional lattes to go. The vegan breakfast sandwich was amazing as well but my bun was a little burnt for my taste. Otherwise amazing and will definitely return!Vegetarian options: They had multiple vegetarian options available with a few items that are vegan or can be made vegan! Non dairy milks were also available for coffee.Parking: There is some limited street parking available as it is downtown and there are a few paid lots available nearby. We went on a Saturday so there wasn’t much work day traffic but during a weekday I image parking would be harder to find.

Always such delicious food! Love that there are both constant menu items and seasonal changes because you can always try something that is your favorite OR try something new and get a new favorite! This time i had their beet salad and a lavender iced latte and they were both 10/10!

We enjoyed the chorizo hash and avocado toast. The chorizo hash was very flavorful and just spicy enough! We’d most likely split it next time because it is a very generous portion. Vibe inside is very

Absolutely incredible place and very kind staff. We'd heard the food was supposed to be good but it still far exceeded our expectations - beyond delicious! If we're ever back in Winnipeg, we'll definitely return here.

Munching In Winnipeg

Went to Modern Electric Lunch for the first time with a few friends and it was a pretty good experience! We got seated right away and service was okay. We ordered a few dishes for all of us try, pistachio ricotta pancakes, chorizo hash, eggs florentine and baby potatoes. The potatoes were definitely the star because we ordered it twice! The pancakes were good but not something we would crave, but their chorizo hash and eggs florentine is something we would come back for and order again!

Great service, good food, very cute atmosphere! I got the Turkish eggs with gluten free toast and an iced matcha. Great place to eat if you’re in Winnipeg and looking for gluten free options.

Waitstaff frequently let the order window fill up, then brought our food to two wrong tables before it eventually got to us. The pancakes weren't fully cooked through, the tea was served leaf-in in a way that made it impossible to sweeten, and my wrap was broiling hot on the left side and ice cold on the right because none of the fillings were layered. This place could be good, but right now it feels as though they're phoning it in and coasting on the lovely atmosphere and good interior design.
