My family LOVES Yan Yan Restaurant. The food is delicious and the service is amazing. Our favourite dish is always the chicken balls but recently we tried the crispy ginger chicken. So tasty! The restaurant is busy but definitely worth the wait.

It took over 2 hours to get our food delivered— it arrived cold. The ginger beef was tasty but way too chewy. The sesame shrimp was doughy we could not taste the shrimp and even less the sesame. The vegetable fried rice had few vegetables and was tightly packed in a container which made it difficult to dish out. This wa anll on the expensive side but we were so hungry we ate it anyway! Ugh!

Food and service are below average. I was not empress with the restaurant at all.Ordered food on Wednesday, April 3/2024. The order was sweet and sour pork, sweet and sour chicken balls, vegetable chow mein with thin noodles, two egg rolls, white fried rice, and came with free chicken fried rice. The food cost was over $64 dollars, and it was absolutely terrible. The food the next day cold is average. Chinese food should never be like this. It should be great when you first get it. It should be great cold. This is twice burned with a different owner. Obviously, it doesn't matter who owns this restaurant. The food is always questionable and sometimes terrible.Vegetarian options: Vegetable chow mein is average, and the only thing that was so so about our Chinese food that was delivered on Wednesday.

We always order our Chinese food from Yan Yan. But I have to be honest the last three times we have ordered from them they have forgotten to put in the bag sweet and sour sauce for our chicken balls. Plum sauce in the bag for our egg rolls and last night again no plum sauce in the bag and the food was so cold we had to heat every dish in the micro wave. So we have decided that we will not be ordering from Yan Yan anymore you know 3 strikes and your out. And we spend a lot of money each order. So no more. They have lost our business and our neighbors business.

I wanted to love this place. Unfortunately, it was awful. Starting with the positives, the online ordering system is easy to use and the food arrived quickly in well-packaged containers. We started with the deluxe wonton soup. Looked good except the shrimp were not deveined which was a turn off. The sweet and sour chicken balls were soggy, perhaps because the sauce was not separate. The noodles were cold and tasted burnt. The chicken fried rice tasted like water. The best tasting item was the free sweet and sour pork we got for ordering over $70 worth of food. Unfortunately, it was not worth it as the rest of the food ended up in the garbage.

S&s shrimp was all clumped together and in the sauce instead of sauce on the side. My usual favourite dish was a soggy mess. Same with the crispy ginger beef. And pork chops. Egg foo young bland. Lemon chicken not terrible. My wife says to throw it out! It’s really that bad!

We ordered Takeout for delivery at 5:10pm & were told it would take 75 minutes to arrive, by 7pm it had still not arrived. We called to see where it was & they said it was out for delivery. By 7:30pm it had still not arrived. Now this needed to be said as this restaurant is less than 5 minutes away from our house. We have patience but after a meal is over an hour late it's probably cold anyways. Needless to say we canceled our order. Very disappointed & hungry.

Yay Yan is our staple Chinese restaurant place to order delivery from! It’s a St James specialty! The Egg Fo Young is the best in the city! And the people that deliver are always so nice, and they take extra care of handing over the food.

We tried Yan Yan tonight for the first time. We ordered the meal for 4 and It was excellent. The sauce for all of the meats - including the sweet and sour sauce - was more of a sauce and less of a candied syrup like a lot of other places. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the thicker candied syrup sometimes too. But this was different and nice. I also enjoyed that the vegetables in with the meats seemed fresh and had a nice crunch to them. I can't do mushy vegetables so these were delicious. I think the only thing we didn't like were the little rib pieces. The taste was nice. This really isn't anything against Yan Yan - the mushy boney rib pieces anywhere have never been our favourite in general. We'll just go with something else next time. Also, the chicken balls were HUMONGOUS and perfectly cooked. Probably the best chicken balls I've ever had.I totally get the appeal. My husband said it was pretty busy when he went to pick up our food and I can see why. They were also 10 minutes earlier than expected in having our food ready. Just a really good meal all around and we have so many leftovers- Yay! lol

Tried Yan Yan out for the first time on Christmas Eve, called two days ahead to coordinate an order for pick up. The food was ready a few minutes before schedule, the employees were all very helpful and kind, and the food was incredible. Well done, will be back!

Yan Yan is our Chinese restaurant of choice for family gatherings. They are great with accommodating allergies and are super friendly. Sometimes difficult to get through by phone and the online system is glichy.
