It’s a cute restaurant, I was not satisfied with the flavor of the food. We specifically went there for the soup dumplings which were not the most flavorful. I got very breaded orange chicken (still tasted good btw). But my brother got a lamb dish. The lamb is sliced so thin that the texture was chewy. And it was one of the more expensive items.

It was my first time ordering from here. I ordered the pork and crab soup dumplings and the pan fried pork gyoza. The gyoza was fine, but the soup dumplings had raw pork in them. I couldn't eat it. I had to throw it all in the garbage. It was unacceptable! It is so unsafe to consume raw pork!

Our favorite Chinese local Chinese spot. The Peking duck and limoncello shrimp, a fun play on walnut shrimp it seems, are our faves. The do exceptional takeout. When they get busy service can be a little slow but the food is always hot and yummy. Bartenders are exceptionally knowledgeable and have made superb recommendations for us.

So I had high hopes that I would like this place. For starters, when me and a friend walked in, the bartender (female) immediately said something about us being welcome to sit at the bar. I asked her if that was being suggested because there was a wait for seating and she kept saying something I couldn't hear and then again said you're more than welcome to sit at the bar which we didn't want to do. Right after the last time she said it someone said follow me to be seated. The bartender didn't even check to see if seating was available to begin with before saying we could sit at the bar!!! That was the first strike but we continued to follow up some stair to the top floor where the kitchen is. The had a pretty full house so it was fine. After checking out the menu we ordered drinks and I told the server we would start with apps. Got the Firecracker salmon spring rolls and Peking duck rolls. I don't know why Firecracker is in the name because there was zero spiciness...zero. The duck was also disappointing. Both were very bland and unsatisfying. We waited a long time for drinks and my guest got his beer at least 15 minutes before I received my drink and it was my birthday. They didn't know that but why bring one drink at a time with a lag in between. Then the next thing I know, a whole table full of people were seated directly beside us and they were loud so that completely killed my mood. I didn't want to hear someone else's conversation right next to me and I didn't need them hearing mine. I was so annoyed. The tables are too close together! Then the last straw was that the same woman who seated us took the menus!!! We were just on apps so that did it for me. She didn't ask just took them so I figured if she thinks we're done then we are. I didn't get to try the other dishes I planned on trying so there you go. I will not be returning at all. I'd rather go to PF Chang's on the Avenue for all of that hassle. The upside was that we were seated fast and the server was pleasant.

Second time coming to NiHao. The food is excellent and is one of the experiences in the US that most reminds me of the amazing food I had while studying abroad in China. The cold noodles are a must. We enjoyed everything from the dim sum menu. And the fish we had was fantastic. The service is always excellent here in my experience as well. Parking is relatively easy in the area.

The duck, soup dumplings, cabbage with tofu and egg yolk black sesame bao was absolutely amazing. Everyone was kind and there were no issues having the kiddo there. Amazing all around.

My only embarrassment in writing this review is that I waited so long to check this spot out! NiHao has been on my to try list for some time, and while I imagine the experience of dining in person is even better, I decided to give it a try with a carry out order first. Thank you Grubhub! I ordered the Szechuan Cold Noodles and Triple Mushroom Tofu Pot. This was more than enough food for one person! The tofu pot comes with a side of rice. Let's talk noodles first. Sauce perfection! That iconic simmering, lingering acidity, peppery heat from the peppercorns is delicately present, adding depth to the sauce without being overpowering. The noodles are the right texture to envelope the contents of the dish without being too soft. The fresh julienned vegetables add a crunch to the bite to round out its textural diversity. A 5/5 dish for sure! The Triple Mushroom Tofu Pot was an excellent complement. Similarly, the sauce was the standout. It's hard to articulate its exceptional complexity. Rich, evolving and yet not so dominant as to mask the flavor of the mushrooms and tofu themselves. The variety of mushrooms gives the dish character, while the tofu adds something more substantial to the bite, and is well-cooked with a crispier exterior meets soft center. Look forward to making my way through more of the menu, NiHao!

A very culturally confusing naming convention of the retaurant and the chinese word emblem does not even pronounce Nihao. Go ask Peter why is he is doing this. IMO a bit culturally insensitive and i am chinese calling him out. All chinese folks are confused why he loosely throw Nihao around, and the chinese word he has on the logo is pronunced "Ning". Food, over priced and definitely appeal to non asian people with money to throw around and have no clue about chinese food. Oh yeah..just call it contemporary and you get away with it.

Really delicious meal - top floor, fantastic service and food in a beautiful setting. Best dishes imo - cucumber salad, shrimp dumplings, chive dumplings and lettuce wraps. Generous portions, nice flavors - not your average American Chinese restaurant. Very special.
