Mamma Lucia of Bethesda Reviews
I rarely leave a negative review. It’s been years since we ate at Mamma Lucia. We used online ordering from Olney tonight because we were going through the area. We ordered a “Special Steak and Cheese Sub” and a “Caesar Salad with Shrimp.” The steak and cheese was not what I would call special. The meat and cheese didn’t even fill the roll entirely. Mamma Lucia is a casual and relaxed restaurant in Bethesda, known for being a nice spot for a glass of wine on a date. The food is fantastic, with pizza that is great and a deep fried risotto that is delicious. The Penne Vodka pasta is show stopping, and even those who do not normally like tiramisu could eat an entire pan of it. The garlic bread is something other than else. However, some experiences have been a huge disappointment. One pasta with meatballs and sausage had a seasoning that did not work, and the pizza lacked enough flavor. A double pepperoni white pizza was criticized for being sparsely populated with pepperoni. Service can vary; one server was super sweet and kind, bringing a cake for a birthday without being asked, while another waitress did not speak much English and brought the wrong dish. The restaurant has been a loyal spot for 25 years for some, but others feel its time has passed. Pricing is great for the Bethesda area, and the extra large pizza with pepperoni, onion, sausage, and mushroom is recommended for its quality and taste.
