“I’ve been to a few of Island Cuisine’s different locations before, and this time I decided to give this one a try. I’m happy to say it absolutely lived up to the high standard I’ve come to expect!

I ordered the jerk chicken with rice and peas, cabbage, and plantain, paired with their pineapple ginger juice. Every element of the meal was flavorful and satisfying. The jerk chicken was tender, smoky, and full of that bold, authentic Caribbean spice. The rice and peas were perfectly cooked and seasoned, the cabbage had just the right touch of flavor without being heavy, and the plantains were sweet and perfectly caramelized.

The pineapple ginger juice was the perfect drink to go with the meal; refreshing, with just the right balance of sweet and spicy. I truly enjoyed every bite and sip.

This location definitely holds its own, and I’ll be back again soon!“

“I've been going to this Caribbean spot for a long time when they were in the old market near Green St. I hadn't been in a minute, but I'm glad I did. Brother went and bought quite a bit. Ox tails were awesome. 1/2 jerk chicken mac and cheese greens plus yams was awesome. Basically, everything was delicious. Mike and his wife can throw down in the kitchen. Check it out for yourself.“

The chef is amazing the way he blends spices and prepares the food. Omg I love this place. Best Jamaican food ever. It's out Brooklyn and I live 45 minutes away but it is well worth the drive. I plan to visit Straight Jamdown Island Cuisine again and again. This guy loves to cook. I love Straight Jamdown Idland Cuisine.“

“Caribbean food is so hard to find made well in this area -- to no surprise given how far away the Caribbean is. This is the first Caribbean restaurant which I enjoyed, and I've tried most in the state I'd wager. It's homemade soul food that can be healthy (if you select the right sides😉). Pricing and value is outstanding. Unfortunately, Baltimore doesn't lend itself to the best atmosphere though, but what are you going to do 😂🙏.“

We got the chicken, oxtail, and shrimp tacos (picked the corn and pineapple pico as toppings), jerk chicken bowl (corn, jerk cauliflower, pickled slaw and pineapple pico as toppings), and angry mac n cheese. Shrimp taco was my favorite since it was the spiciest. They accidentally left out the jerk sauce I asked for and yet everything was still flavorful without it. They do offer delivery but I ended up picking it up since online ordering kept giving an error message. Ordering over the phone was a little challenging so in the absence of online ordering it may be easier to just stop by and order in person.“
