“First timer! Easy reservation process. Wasn't crowded at all. The crab egg rolls were very good. As well as the wings. I didn't order any drinks. I did, however, order the gumbo. To me, it was too salty and not enough rice. The entrée was plentiful. I had enough to take home. Super friendly staff that served my table. Food came out extremely fast. The atmosphere was nice and cozy. Parking can be sketchy but the restaurant was worth it. I'd go back to try another entrée and get some drinks.“
“Yo, I love the food. It is amazing authentic as soon as I smelt the rice before I tasted it I knew it was authentic because I grew up on Caribbean food and Haitian food to be particular the atmosphere the food the lemonade the whole restaurant is just phenomenal and I love it. I went to the restaurant last night and I returned less than 24 hours for some more that should tell you something, please go and support them. You will not regret it.“
“Sensational. Idk bout the reviews but it's a mom pop and son biz, if you were running a restaurant and everyone's multitasking you'd want grace, so give them grace, bc if it was you you'd understand. The mom is the cook, cleaner and all Around great person, she don't say much, but I feel the love, and why yall need to talk to her anyway she working. Bc I saw a few reviews talking about her cut it out. The food is authentic, energy authentic, everything authentic. The portions are crazy for carry out and even larger for dine in. I LOVE IT. Welcome to the area. . My 3rd time and I haven't been disappointed. If you got an issue they are quick to remedy it. It's all made with love. So be gentle“
“What can I say besides Chef's Kiss! What a delicious Friday night dinner. I ordered the Blackened Salmon, Red Beans and Rice, and Sweet Plantains. The picture of the Mac n' Cheese did Not disappoint. I ordered a side and was in food heaven! Practice patience when you dig into your because you'll be so sad when you realize it's only been 10 minutes and your plate is clean!“
“I stopped in today after getting my haircut next door. I ordered the jerk chicken tacos and macaroni and cheese. The food was out of this world. The chicken had the perfect blend of spice with sweet sauce on the taco.I took my wife there after her hair appointment and she loved the food too, and she's not to big on spicy foods. I will absolutely go back.“
“First time ordering from here JIST 4-5 hours ago. I saw sooo many good reviews I had to try it. I ordered (delivery) their jerk chicken panini, and jerk chicken Rasta pasta. MAN… the pasta is sooo good!! The panini was also delicious, even though the panini pressed grilled bread had steamed inside its wrapper and lost its crispiness.. it was great. Wasn’t soggy just had lost its crunchiness where the grill marks are. I can’t wait to try their chicken pot pie and jerk chicken platter! I would’ve ordered those too.. but I don’t want to reheat anything and want to try it fresh. Will order those items next time! Thank you ❤️“
“Excellent food! I’m real picky when it comes to Jamaican food so it means a lot when I say the food is delicious—well seasoned, good portion. In this picture, this is 1/2 my take out plate. I got the oxtail with rice n peas and ordered a side of plantain. Hubby got brown stew chicken and we ordered the ginger pineapple drink and sorrel. I was pleasantly surprised that the ginger pineapple drink is fresh. You can taste the real ginger and pineapple and you can taste the ginger and sorrel in the sorrel as well. Whenever we’re in the area, this is our spot.Vegetarian options: If you’re a vegetarian then the escovitch dish is a good option for you“
“My friends and I came in after the club let out, which was a plus because every other seafood spot was already closed. The atmosphere was great and the service was even better. The food tasted good but it wasn’t as hot as desired. All in all, the experience was nice. I’d go again.“
“I knew I was gonna have a training for work in the area and decided this would be a good time to finally check this place out. I called my order in and the man on the phone was very pleasant and told me my food would be ready ASAP! By the time I arrived they were bagging up my order. I got the roti with curry chicken with a strawberry drink. This was a HUGE serving of food! So big that it wouldn't close and had to be tied down with saran wrap. I opened the roti and the scents smacked me in the face. This was the best curry chicken I've ever had. After tasting the food and meeting the owner, I'll definitely be back.“
“such a fantastic spot in downtown!! jerk chicken and oxtail platters, and corn soup, are delicious and perfectly spiced and seasoned. caribbean beers and caribbean rum juice cocktails were also amazing. all of the staff was super nice, welcoming and down to earth. google messed up their hours but they close at 10 pm every night so come thru!!Dietary restrictions: safe options to eat for people with dairy, tree nut and peanut allergies, and those with lactose intolerance“
“My cousin was adamant about getting here because they operate on a 2 day schedule. She ordered us a few biscuit sandwiches. We ate in the car because we were on the move that day. It's a small setting, was clean inside, service was decent. The biscuits were delightful. Soft, buttery, crumbly, moist. Fresh to order. We had some steak, some bbq lamb and a sweet chicken type. I tried every single one and could not stop the expressive ooooohhhss and yummies from coming out my mouth between bites. The steak was savory and slightly overdone for me but very good with the egg and biscuit. Bbq Lamb was the most interesting pairing well in a breakfast sandwich. I would have never thought to put lamb in breakfast. The chicken was good with some type of sweet sauce on it that was good on the biscuit alone.“
“This has to be the best jerk I have had outside of Jamaica. I'm serious. It's that good. It's sweet, smokey, and spicy. Everything that jerk should be. Brother William didn't just put his foot in it, he put his whole leg in.“
“I dont know whats going on lately but their food use to be on point. I usually get the white meat jerk chicken but the last time I went the chicken was old and dry and hard and drowned in sauce to cover it up. I was so disappointed. I think the time of day you go matters.“
“So me and my friend wanted to try some Caribbean food and he told me about this place. The rice was really good, and the browns to chicken was really good. I didn't like the Jamaican version of collard greens. And if you grew up eating Stouffer's Mac and cheese then you know that that mac and cheese is Stouffer's. But I love Stouffer's ?. But also if I'm ordering from a Jamaican restaurant I don't want freezer macaroni and cheese. Other than that the food was great. Amazing Coco bread ?“
“The food I had was great. I've only tasted the curry chicken three times. You have to pay extra for plantains, which are okay as far a plantains go (I only had them one time). And their food is so affordable that the $1 extra isn't a big deal. I spent 10 and some change on a large curry. I don't care for the people who just hang out there and invade my personal space.Parking: I've gone there twice, and didn't have any issues with street parking.“
“Service was so fast and food was great! I had the curry chicken with Mac and cheese instead of the cabbage first, then went back to try the jerk chicken. Liked the curry chicken more, the jerk chicken I had was a little bit dry but the flavor was good! Would absolutely come here again.“
“I've been in Maryland for five years and I have to say that I was in love with Judy's Island Grill. Right there off of Crain highway in Glen Burnie. When I moved to Baltimore I started experiencing things more. Going to the market trying new things. Lexington Market has a variety of different kinds of food from different cultures. I always try different foods and it's a hit or miss with them, but they mainly have good food. Pam's Caribbean Kitchen just opened up this March and let me tell you, they are the best Caribbean food I have tasted! I mean they knocked Judy's off the board. The only thing that they're missing is macaroni and cheese. If she gets that she will be rolling.“
“I love me some good food!!! This is by far the best jerk chicken I had in the US. Omg the jerk chicken is really GOOD. And the rice and peas is delicious too 10/10. I’ve had only the jerk chicken so far and I’m really impressed. This is my second time ordering and even though it’s a 35 mins drive from Towson, I’ll definitely go back on a regular. The price and serving is right too.“
“The BEST or some of the best carribbean food in the DMV! I've been a customer for more than a decade and this food is fantastic and consistent. They cook like they're cooking for family and you always feel like family when you walk through the door. Everything is wonderful but the oxtail and the pineapple ginger juice are my faves. Ill return as long as they're in business.“
“Went there twice. Both times it was nice and clean. The lady who served me was polite and responsive to my request. I particularly didn't like the type of rice used to cook the rice and peas. It was cooked and Shelly. Just Not sure if was paraboil or what. Just would have preferred another rice (jasmine/basmati/ or a short grain rice) that would have provide more flavor. ?“
“I had the Jerk Pork lunch special. Lunch special was 8.48 with tax. The lunch special came with rice and steamed vegetables mostly cabbage and a can soda. Came in a round container packed tight with an ample amount of pork. The pork was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. This is now my go to for Jamaican period!!“
“First time eating there and I was greatly impressed and will be returning. I usually go to St Marys for my Jamaican fill but Hummingbird has taken their place for 2 reasons: Taste and Price. I had Currried Goat with Rice and Cabbage/Veggies. The only thing I hate is the location because its alot going on as far as car and people traffic which is the only reason for the 4 stars otherwise it'd be 5. The rent gotta be cheap and with the economy I understand the need to make it work where your at until better comes along or whatever the case may be with the locale situation. Many blessings to all and again the food was truly delicious, thank you for the service and I will be returning regularly. Oh forgot to mention the portions were also satisfying so that would be a 3rd reason. ?Update years later: I still go here and it's still is the best most flavorful jaimaican food to me. I have gone to other places and they are bad but they just aren't the same as at Hummingbird. I really do enjoy their flavorful and well-seasoned food.“
“Geneva made us feel like the most important part of the experience at Judy’s Island Grill. Snapper was at market price but affordable and worth it. Also had the oxtail burrito which was flavorful and filling. Cabbage was delicious. David was hospitable and made boozy rum punches. The Mango margarita was too sweet for my preference. We came on a Thursday around lunch time and service was quick!“
