The food is delicious and the staff were absolutely nice and very friendly.I do recommend sitting outside in the back. It’s a beautiful atmosphere.The wait without reservation was about 20 minutes.Best sushi restaurant

This is our family favorite japanese restaurant. We always go about twice a month. The food is awesome. We love sushi rice as it has tasted by itself. Sashimi comes with a wonderful premium grade and fresh. We never had bad experience with fish which is some of the restaurants may have like smell fishy or not fresh.Cheesecake on the house is the best and represent how kind of service.Really enjoy it everything and every time we spend there.

This place is like Mary Poppins' purse. It unfurls into a wonderland. It's way bigger inside than it seems. Back patio is beautiful. Sushi is amazing. Service is excellent. This place is doing everything right.

I’ve eaten at Umi many times over the past few years. The food has always been great, never had a bad meal here. The sushi and hibachi are both amazing. In my opinion their hibachi meals are a good value for the portion and quality too. It can be very crowded sometimes and they tend to pack the place pretty tight. The reason I took away a star for the atmosphere is because their upstairs restroom could use some extra attention as far as cleaning and fixture updates.
We love this place!! Hands down the best sushi place in Maryland. The ambience is great both indoor and on the outdoor patio, great service, unique cocktails, incredible sushi, and great presentation. We have been here a few times and have loved everything we’ve tried. This time we tried the Toro tower, Keto Kiss, Hollywood, and Ruby Toro rolls, along with the Beef Yaki Udon and everything was phenomenal.Kid-friendliness: We have a toddler, and saw many other young children there. They have high chairs and booster seats. The waitress brought us a cup of ice water with a straw for our kiddo, some complementary miso soup, and brought out his plate of udon early so he wouldn’t have to wait too long!

Great service, fresh seafood, a lot of options (almost too many, but that's probably more me than the restaurant). My friend (personal chef) got the steak hibachi to go and reported that the steak had not been tenderized and was inedible. Our eat in sushi options were great. Will definitely return, highly recommended that you give it a try.

This was my first time at the restaurant with my boyfriend during a date night to Old Ellicott City. The service was top tier and the presentation of everything was better than expected.The servers offered us a complimentary miso soup when we ordered. The Aji sushi special was very fresh and presented in a beautiful way with dry ice, making it look like the sushi was in a fog (very entertaining). The sake salmon donburi was presented beautifully with seaweed salad and pickled radish. The teriyaki chicken was flavorful and I had enough food left over to be eaten the next day for lunch (lots of chicken and broccoli). They also provided a small Japanese cheesecake on the house.I would definitely recommend this place for a date night or special evening as everything was so fresh and yummy and the service was one of the best I have experienced in a while.
