“We absolutely loved Archie’s. This mom-and-pop spot was exactly what we needed after dealing with the long lines and crowded, chaotic scene at Wisp Resort. It’s conveniently just a few minutes away, parking was easy, and the staff was courteous and welcoming from the moment we walked in.
Every customer was greeted, and as first-timers, they took the time to explain the menu and ordering process. They also checked in on us throughout the meal without ever feeling intrusive, which we really appreciated.
The BBQ itself was good — while we’ve had tastier in other places, it was still enjoyable and hit the spot. Overall, it was a great experience, and we would definitely come back.“

“02/28/26 – Pine Lodge Steakhouse | Late Lunch / Early Dinner
I visited Pine Lodge Steakhouse for a late lunch/early dinner, arriving between 3:30–4:00 p.m. I chose a back corner seat intentionally, as I wanted to observe the space as a first-time patron and give a fair, well-rounded review.
I began with the crab dip appetizer, which was the undeniable star of the meal. The crab dip was phenomenal and an excellent representation of Maryland crab; rich, balanced, and well executed. Well done.
To drink, I ordered a strawberry margarita with a sugar rim. While I would have preferred a bit more sugar on the rim, the drink itself was very strong. As someone who doesn’t drink often, it bordered on overpowering. I would gently suggest the bar double-check measurements; if they are accurate, this may simply be a matter of sensitivity but it stood out.
For my entrée, I ordered the Cowboy Ribeye cooked medium, with asparagus and plain mashed potatoes. While the cut of steak was excellent and cooked well, the seasoning was unfortunately subpar. To compensate, a compound butter was used, but rather than enhancing the steak, it added unnecessary greasiness and masked what could have been a great cut. Extra fat cannot replace seasoning.
The asparagus mirrored the same issue. Texture-wise, it was cooked properly, but it lacked flavor. Even the steak juices and butter failed to elevate it. A simple acidic element such as a squeeze of lemon along with additional seasoning would have cut through the fat beautifully and brought it to life.
The mashed potatoes, however, were the highlight of the entrée. Rich without being heavy, smooth, creamy, and not gritty. A picky eater would absolutely love them. Well done.
Atmosphere:
As someone who frequents steakhouses, I found the music selection during lunch to be too loud, especially given the low volume of patrons at that time. The constant switching between genres (country, pop, rock) created a sense of whiplash. Music plays a far larger role in a dining experience than many realize. A more consistent, subdued selection would elevate the restaurant from feeling like a quick in-and-out stop to a more refined dining experience. A small detail, but one worth addressing: upgraded napkins could also subtly elevate the overall presentation.
The Bar:
This is where perception matters. As a guest seated in the corner with a clear view of the room, there should never be a question in a patron’s mind about whether staff behind the bar are disengaged. Extended phone use behind the bar, especially visible to guests, creates an impression of boredom or inattention, regardless of intent. If downtime requires personal phone use or drinks, those moments belong in the back of the house. Guests should never be left wondering whether the bar is fully present, attentive, or compromised.
Service:
My server, Madison, was the highlight of the visit. Not only was she attentive to my table, but I also observed her interactions with other guests. She handled a mildly difficult situation involving a dissatisfied patron with professionalism, composure, and grace, resolving it smoothly and without defensiveness. That kind of service anchors a dining experience. Well done, Madison, you earned your tip.“

“My husband and I are locals and frequent Dutch’s At Silver Tree often. We have traveled many places near and far and always say Dutch’s has the best seafood ever. We have never had a bad meal. Food is always hot, fresh, and delicious every time. It is on the pricy side but totally worth every penny. Their creative appetizer nights and Wednesday specials make it affordable for those not wanting to spend the extra money. We do miss their seafood buffet Fridays. That was always our favorite. Wish that would come back. You can’t visit Deep Creek without dining at Dutch’s at Silver Tree 🥰“
