Thai Chef was a very good experience. The greeting at the door was warm and welcoming. The staff were attentive and helpful. I was a guest not a processed customer. I've been to many Thai restaurants and traveled through Thailand, and was pleased and impressed with my meal in terms of quality, quantity, and presentation. If you are ever in Rockville, or need another reason to visit, TC is one good option to to consider.

One of my favorite places
Clay pot noodle is the hidden gem here! Must be eaten in the restaurant. It will be stale if takeout.

Such a wonderful experience food, ambiance, staff, and surrounding location. While we waited for our order we sat outside and admired all the beautiful people and businesses! Children playing, people walking their dogs, and saying hello to one another. It was magical!
I love Thai Chef! It’s got a super visually appealing uniquely stylized whimsical decor, paired with a tight knit menu thats got all the Thai classics you’d want -done well- with cocktails, beer, wine and freshly made non alcoholic drinks. Great place for a wide variety of moods and occasions.

We really enjoyed the place. This is a small joint. We had the Panang curry and it was smooth, comforting and hit the right spot. The crazy Thai lady cocktail is really “award-winning”. The mango sticky rice is a must have. Overall great experience!

This was one the very few places that sold “tom yum fried rice” so I gave it a shot while in town. I spent around $40 for tom yum fried rice, crab Rangoon, and a Thai tea
1. Was shocked when there was no option for the spiciness level. It’s listed as spicy but not at all, maybe not even mild.
2. I only received fives pieces of shrimp for a meal that cost $21 pre tax.
3. Again i spent almost $40 for mainly rice
4. Maybe i tried the wrong item but ive never had tom yum fried rice so disappointing and bland
5. Service at the host stand was fine! The place looks nice on the inside too though
6. If you like mainly cheese rangoons, go for it!

The service here is terrible.
There is no assistance with the menu or whatever. I asked a waiter to turn come so I could tell him about a fan making me cold and he said what do I want him to do with an unconcerned attitude.

Pretty solid Thai restaurant in the Square. I did enjoy their Pad Thai with beef and Catfish Dry Curry. I can't tolerate spicy foods as I used to, so the medium spice for Catfish Dry Curry was good, though next time I will get it mild. Their Pad Thai is pretty good - kind of hard to mess that dish up. My wife enjoyed her Claypot noodle dish. The calamari were just okay- the breading kept coming off after one bite, so that was disappointing. The interior is nice and colorful. Will have try other dishes next time. Service was pretty good.

I originally came here because I was craving thai food and because I used to work nearby and I had always wondered what happened to the space. Unfortunately I think that I had hyped this place up in my head so my experience ended up being a little bit disappointing. I came here for dinner on a week night so I had no problem getting a table. The staff was nice but service felt very transactional. They have a two hour time limit for you to sit and eat and considering the fact that this isn't an all you can eat spot (it's just a regular sit down restaurant) I really felt the pressure to hurry up and eat. If the busser wasn't in a hurry to clear my plates from the table (sometimes before I was even done eating) then the server was either trying to get me to order when I wasn't ready (she was asking if I wanted dessert and a takeout box when my entree hadn't even gotten to the table yet) or would pass my table many times when it was easy to see I needed a refill on my water. I had asked about the green pineapple mocktail and it sounded good so I tried to order it but I don't drink anything carbonated so I asked if they could just switch the club soda for lemonade and my server said that they don't do any modifications or substitutions for the mocktails so I just stuck with water. While I can understand why it seems a bit limiting for those who may have dietary restrictions. I ordered the calamari and the rocket shrimp for my appetizers. The rocket shrimp was a piece of shrimp wrapped in a spring roll wrapper and deep fried. There were four pieces in total and the shrimp had no seasoning or flavor. The only flavor came from the dipping sauce which was a sort of house made duck sauce and they were pretty greasy. The calamari was cooked well and not overly chewy. It did have quite a bit of breading and although the flavor of the seasoning was good it was more salty than I can handle. I ended up sending back the calamari and asked for a Tom Yum soup. It was a small portion but it had a good amount of vegetables and three or four pieces of of decent sized shrimp in it (you can choose what protein you want in your soup). The soup had a nice tangy flavor and there was enough spice to taste the heat but not overwhelmingly so. For my entree I ordered the Tom Yum Chicken Fried Rice and asked for the spice level to be mild. You can definitely taste the Tom Yum flavor and the mild spice was just enough for me to handle. I will say that my experience had been disappointing enough to the point where I just boxed up my rice and left because I just didn't want to stay somewhere I am being pressured to hurry up and leave. Unfortunately I won't be coming back here. If I crave thai food again I will go somewhere else.
