We were celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary & we're visiting Bar Harbor for a long weekend. We should have tried to book a reservation earlier than when we arrived in ME, but we did secure a reservation at 5pm. We order the Old & In Fashioned & Drop in the Blues cocktails, which were excellent. I ordered a cup of the lobster bisque, which was absolutely delicious, but much richer than I was expecting. I could not eat my dinner of sea scallops due to this....
Overall was a very nice fine dining experience. The hotel itself is a pleasure to spend time in prior to being seated for dinner. The fresh cookies in the lobby was an unexpected treat. The offerings on the menu we're both interesting and satisfying and served. Overall, a very good experience.
Some better than average food with a side of pretentiousness. We arrived 10 minutes early to check in and were told by the Maître d assistant that “Your table will be ready for when the reservation was made.” OK then. Once we were allowed in, the live piano player created a nice atmosphere and the views from the dining room were astounding. We had a personable waiter and attentive staff.
