Rooted is a rare and memorable dining experience tucked away in the Maine woods, a beautiful hidden gem and woodland paradise. The restaurant, open only Friday and Saturday with one seating per evening, offers an approximately three to four hour prix fixe experience. The menu is exclusively vegetarian, featuring a six-course dinner of local fare that changes each week. The dishes are beautifully presented, full of incredible flavors and textures, and include thoughtful pairings such as peaches with nuts and complex but delicate tostadas.
The atmosphere is serene and magical, perfectly matching a rustic cabin with elegance. The setting feels like a warm forest cabin or a treehouse, with ambient lighting, a wall fountain, soft background music, and winding paths. Outdoor fire pits with lounge chairs and benches create a contemplative and inviting gathering area. The small staff is super friendly, welcoming, and accommodating, providing outstanding service from parking to departure.
While not for the faint of heart cost-wise and with a wine list that is okay but a bit pricey, the focus is entirely on the guest and their enjoyment. This romantic location, with every detail full of warmth, is considered one of the top dining experiences and a true hidden retreat in the Mt. Vernon community.
