Mel's Hilltop Restaurant Reviews
Excellent atmosphere, service, and food. I’ve been about 10 times and Mel’s never disappoints.
Our family celebrated a birthday at Mel’s. Great food and the best service.
Thank you so much for staying open this winter. I have brought my kids there many times for fish fry Friday and the fried haddock is amazing. We have also been many times for Smashburger night on Mondays and the Smashburger’s are absolutely amazing. Perfectly seasoned. This past Monday I got the vegetable of the day instead of fries, which happened to be carrots and they were the most delicious carrots. Mel's Hilltop Restaurant offers a pleasant dining experience with beautiful views and good value. Located on the Poland Spring Resort, it features outdoor deck seating overlooking the golf course and mountains, making it a perfect spot to enjoy the sunset. The indoor seating also provides great vistas, suitable even on chilly evenings. Visitors often remark on the reasonable prices and consistently good quality food, with the hand dipped onion rings being highly recommended. The restaurant is not fancy but maintains a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, with top-notch service when the staff is available.
During the day, it is an ideal place for a quick, satisfying lunch, offering large sandwiches and a full bar. The location and outdoor seating make it especially attractive for those exploring the resort area. However, service issues can occur, especially during busy times or when the kitchen is backed up. Some guests have experienced long wait times for food and inattentive service, particularly when dining alone or during off-peak hours. Food quality can vary; for example, Asian ribs might be fatty, and wings may be chewy and rubbery if the kitchen is not fully staffed.
Despite these occasional setbacks, Mel's Hilltop remains a popular spot for visitors staying at Poland Spring. It is recommended to arrive early, check hours in advance, and consider dining outside the resort if quick service is desired. Overall, the restaurant offers good value, great views, and a casual atmosphere for those seeking a relaxed meal with a beautiful backdrop.
