Belleville is a delightful bakery with multiple locations in Portland. It is considered a top-notch pastry shop, with many calling it among the best in the city and even comparing it favorably to the best in Boston and Paris. The quality cannot be beat, offering the highest quality pastry in New England. Every pastry is a winner, absolutely delicious, and exceptional. The almond croissant is highlighted as the best in town and a must-order item. Other favorites include the rotating bostock, danish, and an impossibly flaky palmier. They switch out pastries seasonally, featuring both traditional and creative flavors like a Kimchi danish. The bakery also serves some of the best pizzas in town starting at 11 am, including a creative Thai pizza. The staff is often friendly and welcoming, though service can sometimes be a hit or miss. The place is small but convenient for taking away. It is a very nice addition to the neighborhood, in a fun building, and is very affordable. They run out of baked goods quickly, so an early visit is recommended.
