Bread & Friends Reviews
My husband, MIL, and myself were visiting Maine all the way from NC and came here TWICE during our visit. First was brunch, then dinner. Both meals were exceptional. Our waitress(I wish I could remember her name, but she has long, red hair), gave the best service I have ever experienced in my life! This will definitely be a spot we must visit everytime we come up ❤️
Quite literally the best latte I’ve ever had in my life! 😍
Smoked maple rosemary latte
We have gotten brunch take out several times and today we ate brunch at the restaurant. Service has always been good. They were a little slower at busier times-which is to be expected.
Every time we have gotten the pastrami biscuits. Think 2 mini Reubens (like sliders) but on little house made biscuits. We love Reubens and these definitely do not disappoint and although they are small there is a lot of pastrami packed on. We also always get the side of smoked B & F bacon-it...read full review

Bread & Friends in Portland is a popular restaurant known for its exceptional staff and service. The menu features a variety of simple yet flavorful breakfast dishes, including the highly recommended lobster omelette and sourdough bread that reminds some visitors of those in San Francisco. The pastries are especially loved, with the guava kouign amann being a standout for its flaky crust and light, tart guava filling. The Greek salad scone and canoli croissant are also delightful treats, complemented well by fresh squeezed orange juice. The bread and viennoiseries are praised for their quality, and the croissant remains a favorite. Recently, the restaurant expanded its offerings to include dinner on Sundays, with a beautiful, thoughtful, and unique menu that showcases mostly local ingredients, providing a variety of tastes and textures that work well together. Chef Jeremy’s talent is evident in the visually appealing and delicious meals.
While the atmosphere is cozy, seating can be cramped, and the restaurant can get busy, making it less ideal for large parties unless seated outside. The drinks, however, have received mixed reviews; some found the cortado with its cute latte art to be underwhelming due to the sour espresso, and the iced blueberry lemon matcha lacked the expected matcha flavor, tasting more like blueberry syrup. Customers often opt for takeout pastries and coffee, especially during busy times. Overall, Bread & Friends offers simple but delicious food and a welcoming environment that makes it a good place for regular visits, with options for sharing and well-paired wine and beer choices.
Recent reviews highlight that this restaurant is a favorite farm-to-table spot in Maine, with passionate, friendly, and professional staff. The music, a mix of classic and modern R&B with eclectic selections, creates a pleasant atmosphere. Many customers say they will return often. Several guests praised the food as amazing, fresh, and local, with complex flavors crafted by the chef. The service is described as top notch, making it a highly recommended place for a special meal or casual dining.
