Oxbow was such a unique brewery stop with a lot of focus on farmhouse ales, and they do it very well!

Great farmhouse and sour beer options. Space was kid/family friendly with friendly staff

Staff was very friendly but beer was average and setup very boring

Great spot. Pop up Duck Fat food is great. Service is awesome, and beer is pretty good. Live music and atmosphere is awesome.

Pretentious for sure. Staff and crowed. Not my vibe but I can see a lot of people liking it. The people there where having fun and they let dogs In

I really want to love Oxbow but the beer really is not very good. Thankfully, they do serve liquor and other beverages. The atmosphere is lovely and it's a great venue for concerts and other events. Having the frites shack just outside/food options nearby is nice too. This is a decent place to stop by on a summer afternoon to meet up with a group.

I stopped at Oxbow as part of my self-guided brewery tour of Portland. I had grand plans to hit 6 breweries the day our cruise ship was in port, but a delicious lunch at Duck Fat derailed my plans and robbed me of both time and stomach space.
I hit Oxbow on the walk from ShipYard to Lone Pine and Goodfire.
A reason I mentioned Duckfat is because they have a takeout location right next to Oxbow- so you can pair the best fries in Maine with a ton tasty brews.
Speaking of the beers, the ones I tried were delicious. Oxbox has a great mix of Farmhouse ales and barrel-aged sours. Perfect pairings with salty frites!
The inside space is substantial, which is great for Maine's "cold, yet damp" environment. The day I visited, all their garage doors were open, the outside bar was bustling, and their patio was full.
I highly recommend Oxbow- especially for a change of pace from the mainstream hop-heavy breweries. Their offerings of Grisettes, Biere De Garde, Saisons was unparalleled.
