I stopped at Oxbow as part of my self-guided brewery tour of Portland. I had grand plans to hit 6 breweries the day our cruise ship was in port, but a delicious lunch at Duck Fat derailed my plans and robbed me of both time and stomach space.
I hit Oxbow on the walk from ShipYard to Lone Pine and Goodfire.
A reason I mentioned Duckfat is because they have a takeout location right next to Oxbow- so you can pair the best fries in Maine with a ton tasty brews.
Speaking of the beers, the ones I tried were delicious. Oxbox has a great mix of Farmhouse ales and barrel-aged sours. Perfect pairings with salty frites!
The inside space is substantial, which is great for Maine's "cold, yet damp" environment. The day I visited, all their garage doors were open, the outside bar was bustling, and their patio was full.
I highly recommend Oxbow- especially for a change of pace from the mainstream hop-heavy breweries. Their offerings of Grisettes, Biere De Garde, Saisons was unparalleled.
Delightful! Amazing beers & libations, great food, fabulous staff & service!
Pretty close to two of the best beers I've had. Definitely recommend.
They’ve got unique beers on rotation. Not your traditional brewery. Would highly recommend if in the area.
staff was soooo nice. great beers, we shared two flights.
Made a stop at Oxbow before returning to Indiana in August. I had never had a beer of theirs before, but I had seen them listed on some Maine beer awards. There are common factors to my favorite breweries (I am retired and take this as my life mission); inviting breweries decor, knowledgeable staff and great beer. I took a picture with Meg (after ensuring it would not impact her Witness Protection Program status). I let Meg pick six beers for my flight in the order she thought I should drink them. We talked through each beer. First the beer was fantastic, but I enjoyed the knowledge just as much. I think Maine is one of my favorite beer states (Michigan and North Carolina are also favorites) and Oxbow is just another great brewery in a great brewing state.
Rebecca and team were an absolute pleasure to work with from the beginning to the end of our process planning our wedding welcome party at Oxbow - responsive, informative, clear, and accommodating. All of the guests had such a wonderful time - it was such a fun spot, intimate but plenty of space to mingle without feeling crowded, beautiful lighting and floral decor that was included, and truly the perfect space to host a party! All of the servers and bartenders were so friendly and helpful. We appreciated being able to customize the drink menu as well and bring in food. I would absolutely recommend Oxbow for anyone hosting an event, the whole process was so easy and it came together beautifully! Thank you team! - Alyssa and Peter
This was our favorite spot while visiting Portland. Comfortable seating, kind bartenders, and a solid variety of beers. We kept coming back every day.
Atmosphere and service is great. I got the house flight to try a few different blends and they made me so sick that I didn't have a full beer. The rest of the night my stomach felt awful. Not my thing I guess, but I've never felt like that at any of the other brewers in the area.
Beautiful space with fantastic farmhouse beers.

Decent beers, great location with duckfat frites shack right next door. Entire location is large 'beer hall' style picnic benches.

Meg is amazing! Fun time- great brews!
Being a saison/farmhouse fan. This place is amazeballs!!! Beer is amazing representation of the style!!! If you love saisons! Go here!!
Ambience is a 10/10. Beers were not quite our style, but we liked the opportunity to try four of the recommended brews via the preset flight. The Wednesday afternoon vibes were very chill, and I imagine it would be a fun spot for late night as well.
