Pilar's Tamales is a charming, eclectic spot with a warm atmosphere, perfect for a quick bite or to-go meal. The menu offers a variety of options, including tamales, pupusas, and more. The "Perfect Pair" special is a great way to try a little of everything, with a choice of tamale, pupusa, salsa, casamiento, fried plantain, curtido, and drink, all for $18. The food is delicious, with flavorful combinations and generous portions. The owner is friendly and welcoming, and the interior features fun wares and knick-knacks for sale. This place is an absolute gem in Ann Arbor, featuring incredibly delicious tamales and pupusas. If you've never tried the wonderful cuisine of El Salvador, please do yourself a huge favor and go to this place immediately for a delicious meal. When you need love, food, hope, and joy, this is the spot. Tamales and pupusas are meant to be eaten with salsa and curtido; which is always a magical combination of flavors. The horchata is so good it’s hard to resist drinking the whole thing at once. One customer tried the jalapeño and cheese tamale—steaming and slathered with salsa and plenty of curtido—it was like a grilled cheese and a tamale had a baby. Many visitors find it an unexpected but great find in a small strip mall location, with amazing food that surpasses expectations.
