“Greek Islands is a local staple for Birmingham! I have been coming here for over 20 years and it’s my kids favorite place. The restaurant bas seemed to be even busier as of late but the quality of service and food has been amazing. I bring friends and family from out of town and they always say “I wish I had this in my town” I look forward to many more years of enjoying Greek Islands.“

“ordered from door dash a couple of times and this will be my last. every time, there is something wrong with the order. today, half of the order was missing and packing was so careless that the driver showed up with a container full of food spilled in the bag. “This place is a landmark if you ask me. It's inside the Penobscot Building to start, which is worth a 10 minute walk through. l digress. From the amazing host and waitstaff to the owner who is regularly in house and working hard, to the phenomenal food they serve it's one of the best places to eat in an ocean of good restaurants. Watch for daily specials like Fish and Chips and the Greek Gyro. Gyros are why I go, but the patstitso, kebobs, fish, salads, and so much more are on point! If you like fast service for carry out this place is perfect. Parking can be tricky so I hit a spot on Fort Street a block or so away, or one of the lots. Go today!!!“

“Dined-in, excellent food at this small restaurant with a few high tables. Split the chicken shawarma plate with veggies with my husband, also ordered hommus and meat grape leaves. Everything was great, fresh and evidently made with skill and love. My fave veg was the pickled cabbage. The grape leaves stuffing wasn't my the best ever, but the leaves themselves certainly were. The texture and size were amazing. My husband really liked the sauce they put on the grape leaves, for him, these were the best tasting he's had. Plenty of pita bread to scoop up the hommus. Right temperatures for all the food. A family owns, cooks and staffs the place and they made us feel welcomed and treated us royally. Delicious date filled cookies to go was a winning touch for a superb meal. Wish I lived closer!“

“This is my second time coming to this location near my place. I ordered combo number two. It’s pretty consistent across all their locations. They provide excellent service and good food, and they get you in and out. I believe it was, which is too, delicious: Coney dogs, fries, and a drink. Kerby’s is pretty consistent across all their locations. They provide great service and good food and get you in and out.“

First time back post pandemic meeting an old friend and as always delicious.The portions are never small and the waitress has been there forever. “This restaurant serves authentic lamb gyros. Need I say more? If you are into gyros, then you know there are “blends” with beef, which I do not eat. It’s refreshing to find genuine lamb. In addition, their team is consistent. Everything, including the rice pudding, is always fresh and filled with love. Don’t hesitate to stop in for lunch or dinner.“

“Beautiful place. Cozy, lively, colorful, with a nice design, seating, wall paintings, small plants. You choose what you want and in Subway-style you choose the toppings as you go. The gyros, soups, and baklava are delicious. The staff is helpful and friendly.“

“So I used to get lunch from here back in the early 90s when I worked next door at Atlas Food Land, I've been back a few times over the years, and this time, I brought my daughter and her reaction to the place was asking me if we could start going here more frequently, the bacon cheeseburger is my favorite, but you definitely can't go wrong ordering the breakfast.“

“First time diner and it was a great experience. The Huevos Rancheros was fantastic. It had so many good ingredients, but the best was fresh Chorizo. You could be in Mexican Town. Also, the homemade chicken soup is just like Mom used to make. Staff was friendly and attentive. I will be back.“

“I’m surprised by the reviews. I had a great experience. All the reviews about the service - it’s not a sit down restaurant. Had the chicken Cesar pita. It was amazing. I’ll be back just for the pita not to shop at the mall! Chicken was marinated, very tender and juicy. Perfect amount of dressing. The Romain was fresh and crisp. French fries were almost like steak fries. Not overly greasy. Highly recommend checking this place out next time you’re shopping at the mall. Prices are typical.“

“I live nearby so I have been to this restaurant many times; for both dine in and carry out. The other day i had a situation where my carry out order was not up to par, and they went above and beyond to make it right with me. Long story short, there was a problem with the order, then a communication breakdown, but the owner went above and beyond to rectify the situation. And everyone involved apologized. These days good customer service is hard to find. I received excellent service from Koney Island Inn this week. Thank you.“

“Always a solid place for any meal of the day. The menu is very large, so there is literally something for everyone! They also have combo specials, which is nice as well. Service is always good, and the food comes as ordered. Definitely recommend!“

“They are a cool group. My daughter worked there 30 years ago and had a great time. When she is in town, she picks up their Greek salad dressing -about 8 bottles and several pasta salads. I pick up once in a while their top notch Greek salad.“

“Great family-friendly diner. We started going there a month or so ago, and every time we are in the area, we are going. Sundays are nice. Big football fans, and they always have the games playing. Food is absolutely phenomenal. I go there and I won't leave without my hashbrowns. A place where you know you're gonna leave a tip because you know you're gonna enjoy every second of your time there, and even more every bite. And big shout out to the young lady who normally waits on us. I'll get her name in an update. She's always very nice, quick, gives us our time, but still always makes sure we have what we need without making us feel rushed.“

“I have been going to Olga's for more than 20 years in downtown Birmingham, Troy at Oakland Mall, and now usually in Royal Oak. For years the spiral cut French fries have been my favorite fries at any fast casual chain. Yesterday I was at Royal Oak and the fries have changed for the worse. There is a new batter style and they were too salty. Please bring back the old fries!!!“

“I was seriously impressed with our service here. Our waitress Raven was immediately on top of everything before we could ask. The food was so hot she definitely got it out as soon as it went out the window. I haven’t been here in a while and was very impressed as I remember being many years ago.“

“We were a large party of 7. Our server was very patient and accommodating with our various requests. Everyone enjoyed their food. I ordered the Cod with lemon butter sauce and it was delicious! As were the sides of roasted potatoes and green beans. I would definitely go back again!“
