French Toast Bistro Clawson is a restaurant in downtown Clawson with a cute, French Quarter-esque decor and a speak easy (not yet open) off to the left. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff are cheerful and amicable. Servers are helpful and attentive, bringing drinks right out, refilling promptly, and separating bills without being asked. Food arrives hot and all at the same time. The menu is savory and sweet, gourmet yet approachable, and uses quality ingredients. The white cheddar cheese grits are AMAZING and cravable, especially with the cajun style spicy shrimp. The shrimp & grits were the highlight of the table, followed closely by the cornflake French toast. The lobster omelet pleased, with mushrooms adding a bonus that elevated the flavor, and it comes with a side of cheese grits. The peach & cream French toast and a veggie omelet were both delicious, and the French toast was so good. The avocado toast features goat cheese, and the beignets are not to forget. Drinks include Spanish Coffee, the French 44, French Martini, and the Manhattan. The restaurant accommodates a group of 7, though it can be loud, and it is a pricey endeavor.
