“The wife and myself stopped here for the first time as we were heading home from a GR errand trip. It is both a Mexican grocery store and restraunt. We ate lunch there. The service and staff were awesome. Our food came out with only a short wait. The food for me (3 taco lunch) was very well prepared, a bit on the plain side, not much if any seasoning. The hot sauce is just that HOT, not too much flavor. The grocery store was awesome too. We'll stocked with items you would expect to find in a Mexican grocery. A very large meat selection, fresh veggies and various snacks. Definitely a return to the grocery store, maybe a pass on the restaurant.....“

“Good local food truck with fair prices. I buy burritos from them frequently at the Fulton Street Farmers Market in GR. The meat is seasoned well, I just wish they would add more meat and less rice in their burritos. Half of my burrito was rice. Otherwise great food!“

“Julian’s is a treat! I’ve driven by it thousands of times. Today I stopped to try Julian’s. I was not disappointed. We went to the counter to order and were promptly given a table and table service.

The steak tacos were really good. The steak tastes like steak. The onions were crispy. The rice was so fluffy it could have floated off my plate. The beans were as good.

I had a 1/2 order (three tacos). It was more than enough. I’ll be back.“

“Great food, good service, bit of a strange atmosphere. It's set up like a sports bar, but there's these really bright overhead lights that make the vibe kind of weird. The waiter was nice and attentive. My friends got the Quesadilla Fajitas and Taquitos Mexicanos. I tried the Southwestern Taquitos and 3 tacos. Food was delicious and flavorful. My only complaint is that the tacos were on the dry side.“

“This is some of the best authentic Mexican food I’ve had since moving to Grand Rapids. The service was really quick and the young lady that served me was incredibly pleasant. I had the taco Tuesday special of three tacos for eight dollars, which was a great deal. The Pastor is unreal, and they cook it with pineapple like the traditional style. “The food was great! Got a fish taco and sweet potato black bean taco. Normally I don't get sweet potato black bean tacos since I can make them at home but the ones they made had more complex flavors. Highly recommend it.

Also their salsa flights is such a cute yummy idea.“

“This location is a great addition to Northeast Grand Rapids for authentic Mexican food. While you will find standard American-Mexican favorites, you will also find proteins and dishes rare locally. The staff was friendly and helpful about answering any questions you might have. They serve breakfast and dinner daily. They also have a lunch menu Tuesday to Friday. Closed Mondays. Complimentary chips, house made mild salsa, medium salsa and a hot verde salsa, all excellent. Generous portions for our Torta Cubana (with steak, ham, grilled hot dog, chorizo, breaded chicken fillet and egg torta with fixings and Campechanos Quesadilla (steak and chorizo). We look forward to coming back.

Vegetarian options: Vegetarian friendly dishes were clearly marked on the menu. Also marked were spicy tolerance recommended dishes.

Everybody talks about authentic Mexican food, but how about just good food?

Donkey Taqueria is a little more modern style, but the proof is in the tacos.

If the weather is good, sit outside.

Because it's a trendy joint, prices are higher than a normal 'family' Mexican restaurant - look at my menu photos

Al Pastor tacos are your failsafe choice.
