Love this place. Great bagel sandwiches and coffee. Cute atmosphere. I haven't been here in the summer yet but look forward to being able to sit outside!Parking: Parking lot behind the building and some street parking nearby.

Visiting Corktown from Indiana. The staff were friendly, and told me I ordered well: Lavender latte and Sunnyside Avo. It was delicious.

Just not even sure why a 12oz cold brew cost $5.30 it’s beyond me. People over profit. Always.

Really great coffee and bagel was yum. The egg on the bagel and chive cream cheese were also delicious.I’m a little confused about the shopping sections in the corner of the restaurant but I guess that’s cool that they’re supporting local business. It just threw me off and it would’ve been nice if there were more tables… I had to sit outside. Luckily it was a nice enough day.

Service and Atmosphere is great but I ordered the hot chocolate and it was not hot. It didn't taste right as well...tasted like melted dark chocolate. Maybe I'll try something else.

Holy cow the absolute BEST coffee house in the neighborhood! Opens up at 7 am and worth the one block walk from the Curio hotel. Each of us ordered a mocha and an everything bagel with sausage egg and cheese. The food tasted very fresh very natural and unprocessed if that makes sense. We loved it so much we went BACK AGAIN this morning for our round two. Same coffee mochas this morning and for our sandwich, the Jalapeño Pretzel bread (it is salty but go for it!) and the sausage egg and cheese. We picked up a blueberry muffin as well. Unbelievable to have such delightful food and yes, we found James Oliver via YELP. The staff was FANTASTIC and when we find something we love, we indulge like we did two days in a row. So good!

Jane's Olivet Coofee and Bake Shop is my go to for coffee and a quick breakfast in the morning.

It's been six years since I've been back to Corktown. It's changed so much from last I strolled Michigan Ave. There are handful of coffee shoppes lining the strip and originally I was set to rendezvous with my date at Lucky's but they didn't open until 930 on a Saturday so we walked east a few blocks and stopped at James Oliver. The vibe here is unmistakably chill with ample seating here and there throughout the floorplan. They had a large communal table, a couple sofas with adjacent chairs for a group of 4 or 5, there was some window seating and a few stand alone chairs to camp out in. I saw hipsters, families, social groups and business class alike gathered and enjoying something warm and yummy. It was a comfortable place to spend a morning. Their coffee was good. I only had an Americano but the latte looked huge and the froth was pillowy and perfect. They make their own bread so bonus points there. Definitely worth coming in to check out, if you're in the area looking for a caffeine fix or a quiet spot to share a morning.

Very cute coffee and breakfast shop. Popularity is bringing a steady crowd. Cool vibe and great location.

UPDATE November 2023.Their area of excellence is (1) variety of whole beans available, although they usually have only 2-3 kinds that are FRESH roasted (less than 1 month ago),(2) Excellent pastries! Some of their best beans are the Detroit Alma Mater, the Ethiopia Harrar, and the Guatemala. Only problem is; they often don't have fresh bags of these varieties...I will say that I've tried multiple local coffee bean vendors, and James Oliver is one of the few that has some freshly roasted beans every time.Their space is very nice.Another grievance is that their in-store pour overs have all been too bitter for me.I have informed them about this issue. I wonder if it's just my taste, or there's something in their water, their behind-the-bar beans, or their machines.

Coming from out of town and meeting a friend for lunch at a cafe on Michigan Ave in November doesn't sound so fun....but, it was great (how could I have doubted her brilliance?). Sunny and warm, sitting outside with the dogs and their people, great coffee, very cool.

They get my order wrong every single time it's almost comical. It's really not that hard I get one bagel and they managed to get it wrong every time. Also it takes 15 minutes for them to make one breakfast bagel. And the orange juice portion is very small. I told them no orange cheese.... There's a bunch of orange cheese in my sandwich. Also it's supposed to have avocado and it barely has any.
