I did not realize this was an upscale Chinese restaurant. The prices were definitely on the higher side while dish portions were more on the smaller side.
As for taste, - the braised beef was disappointing. Carrots were not cooked all the way and the beef was very hard to chew. - Hot and sour soup tasted very clean. It was not as sour as I like, but still good. - Mapa tofu was well flavored with each tofu bite. This dish more of those numbing peppers than the average Mapa tofu. So drinking water after tasted weird. - The almond bread was my favorite with a sweet nutty crunchy center.
Atmosphere is more upscale Chinese. This was probably the first place I’ve ate at that had two chopstick sets for each person. Hot tea was also a nice touch. Overall, it’s a nice place to bring family members who don’t like typical oily Chinese food. Definitely pricier, but you know the food and restaurant is clean.

Wow. Went here for a work trip and came here from a friend's rec. Can't recommend it enough. You can't pass on the steamed fish with chili sauce! As a NYC bartender, their unique cocktails really blew my mind. I had the Lucky Lu and my friend got the Shiangmi Sling. Would 100% recommend for any locals in the area!

My husband and I were excited to try authentic hunan cuisine. He is from Toronto and has frequently told me about the amazing food he would eat there. We came in and decided to order the duck, because I haven't had it before and he thought it would be the strongest item on the menu. We also ordered soup dumplings, hot tea, and chicken fried rice.
The soup dumplings came first and they were okay. We have had significantly better ones. The duck came and it was dry, cold, and unflavored. The crepes were sticky and doughy(not sure if that's the right word) but the duck was honestly difficult to stomach. The fried rice came and it was flavorless. Husband and I are driving home and both feel nauseous. Fingers crossed it passes quickly!

Water unfilled for more than an hour. Dishes trickled out at a glacial pace. Rice arrived well after the 7th dish was served. With spicy Hunan food, lack of water and rice was unpleasant. Dessert was a longer wait.
We weren’t served sweet potato chips as in our prior visit. We were given 5 paper napkins for our group of 7 so we had to share. The candle on our table ran out of battery. The list went on.
Wait staff were frequently on their cell phones, laughing and chatting with each other, their backs to the dining room. We waved at any employee looking our way, in order to get attention. We felt ignored.
It was not a busy night; there were only a few tables of customers. The 20% service fee was not announced until we were served the bill. At that point, we were just relieved that we could finally exit.
加油?, ShiangMi! We truly hope you thrive. Your fine food deserves to be enjoyed with equally fine service.

What a gem of a restaurant to have here in Michigan! The interior was so inviting, beautiful, and clean. All of the food was savory and fresh without being greasy like a lot of other Chinese restaurants. They had a variety of cocktails although a bit on the pricey side. We ordered the basa fillet, shishito pork, and duck. All the meat wasted fresh and well-seasoned. The fish fell apart in the mouth like butter. The pork dish had a perfect spice level. The crepes that came for wrapping the duck were thin and well-executed. The service was attentive, and atmosphere elegant and quiet. We really enjoyed a long meal here. Would highly recommend for a date night or family gathering!

This is the best Chinese restaurant in Oakland Co. It's expensive, but it's reflected in the quality of the food. Don't cheat yourself and order off of the American Chinese menu - the basa fish and cumin lamb were both excellent. Plus, service was lightning fast.

Food was too greasy and did not come with any rice. When we asked for rice to go with the food we were told that Chinese food has to be low carb lol. Way too expensive for what we got. Also, I ordered the seafood stew and was mostly tofu. I did not know that tofu is seafood? do not recommend!
